HW: Turn in homework from weeks 10 - 12. Final exam is 20% of your semester grade. Final exam is Friday 12/18.
We used the class period to go over questions on each review packet. Answers were given to the second review packet. Students were able to see how they did on the test from yesterday. Scores will be uploaded tonight in IC for the test 3.1 - 3.4.
HW: Turn in homework from weeks 10 - 12. Final exam is 20% of your semester grade. Final exam is Friday 12/18. 8Students had the class period to complete their test over 3.1 - 3.4. Students were also given an additional review packet for the final exam.
A sign up sheet was passed around for the redemption test (needs to be taken 12/15 - 12/18). HW: Study for your final exam, which is on Friday, December 18th. We went over WS 3.4 from yesterday. Students received a review 3.3 - 3.4 today in class. The answers are as follows:
1. A 2. B 3. line with a positive slope and must go through (2, 0) 4. C 5. A 6. relative minimum of x = -1.5 only 7. C 8. A 9. C 10. E HW: Complete the review from today. Test on Monday over 3.1 - 3.4. Students completed their work on WS 3.3 and we went over the answers in class, as well as completing a couple problems. Students were given about 30 minutes of work time to complete assignments from 3.3 or 3.4.
HW: WS 3.4 and complete book assignment 3.4 (or webassign 3.4) Test will be Monday (3.1 - 3.4). Students had 12 minutes in class to work on WS 3.3 (relative extrema). We went over the answers to the first 3 questions. Then we completed our notes on concavity and the second derivative.
Students also received a study guide with answers for the first semester final exam. Then we completed our notes on section 3.3. We reviewed how to find critical numbers and use them to find intervals where the function is increasing or decreasing. We also went over the first derivative test for local extrema.
HW: Complete book assignment 3.3 or webassign 3.3 We did a 2 question review on MVT, then students had 20 minutes to complete their quiz 3.2 on MVT. We used desmos.com and the template called calculus tangent line to analyze the graph when the derivative is positive, negative or zero. We completed the first example of our notes, which asked to find intervals where the function was increasing and decreasing.
Watch the two links below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoYQCWbeGnU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJb_Qk0O5a0 HW: Complete the 2 questions on Rolle's theorem (on the back today's notes) & Friday's worksheet. You may start working on book assignment 3.3 or webassign 3.3. We went over WS 3.2 on MVT (mean value theorem) from yesterday. This is a good review for Monday's quiz on MVT. Then we watched a short video on how the MVT could be used to show a driver was speeding and could be given a ticket. For the last 15 - 20 minutes, students completed an exit slip on finding the absolute extrema on a closed interval and worked on WS IVT, Rolle's Theorem & MVT.

We completed our notes on rolle's theorem and the mean value theorem. Students were given back their quizzes from yesterday and we went over #4.

Students completed their short quiz on 3.1(critical points only).
After students turned in the quiz they used the rest of class for the following: 1) Complete book assignment 3.1 (or webassign 3.1) 2) Today’s homework: students read pages 172 – 173 and complete the problems on page 176 5 - 19 odd. |
