HW: Complete your 2.2 work
We went over WS 03 Definition of the Derivative. Then student took the quiz 2.2. If you need 5 minutes to wrap up on Monday, that is fine.
HW: Complete your 2.2 work Students completed a 5 question warm - up. We went over the answers. Students also completed a short 6 question "pre-quiz" on the derivatives from section 2.2. We went over this in class. We also went over yesterday's WS 2.2 (1 - 5). Then we went over 4 - 6 on WS 02 Rates of Change.
HW: Quiz 2.2 is tomorrow. Know your power rule, derivative of sin(x) & cos(x); average rate of change and instantaneous rate of change. Complete 1 - 7 on WS 03 Definition of Derivative. We started with a 5 question warm-up. Then we used desmos.com to analyze the slope of the graph of y = sin(x). We plotted 6 values and made a prediction that the derivative of y = sin(x) is y' = cos (x). We did verify this graphically. Then we used the same approach to examine the derivative of y = cos(x). WE found that y' = -sin(x).
Students received back their exit slip from yesterday and we completed #1 and #7 together. Then we played a quick Kahoot game on derivatives using power rule & derivatives of sin(x) and cos(x). HW: Complete WS 2.2 (1 - 5). Quiz 2.2 is Friday, 9/30. Enjoy the powderpuff games! Students completed a quick 10 question review on limits (including one-sided & using infinity). Then students worked with their tablemates to complete 2 columns of the WS 2.2 Power Rule. Answers are on the backside. Then students completed a 5 question exit slip.
HW: Complete 2 columns of the WS 2.2 Power Rule & do 2.2 through #23 if you have not yet done so. We looked at our past work we did on derivatives and found a pattern that we could apply: the power rule. We completed 8 examples in our 2.2 Power Rule notes.

AROC = slope between 2 points IROC = the derivative evaluated at a specific time Use the videos below review/practice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5l67_Xvht-k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pP6iGaU3oTk HW: Complete WS Rates of Change 1 - 10. We started by using the limit definition to look at the derivative of y = x^2 -3. We found y' = 2x. Then we compared the graph of the original function and its derivative. We also practiced drawing the derivative graph given the original function.
Students had 20 minutes for their Quiz 2.1. HW: Complete the matching (original function with its derivative graph) pages in the 2.2 Notes from today. We went over the 1/2 sheet review on continuity. We also completed the 4 questions from the missing page in the WS Differentiability & Continuity packet. We went over a couple problems from WS Definition of the Derivative. Answers to the 2.1 Homework Review were given as well.
HW: Complete book 2.1, WS 2.1 Homework Review, & do problems 3, 4 & 7 on the back of WS Definition of the Derivative. Quiz 2.1 is tomorrow, 9/22. We went over 7 review questions on limits using infinity, limits algebraically, and finding & naming the discontinuities of a rational function. Students also had the opportunity to ask questions on their chapter 1 test.
HW: Complete 2.1 (book or webassign), the 2.1 Book Review worksheet and the 1/2 sheet on continuity. We completed our 2.1 notes on the derivative. We also discussed the conditions for a graph to be differentiable. We completed our class worksheet on the Concept of the Derivative.
