Homework is to complete the worksheet 1. AB Calculus Step-by-Step (parts a - d). You will turn in Book 1.5 and your chapter review (including the first page of AP 1-1 problems 1 - 7, right after page 94)
Today we learned about the concept of local linearity using the y = sin(x) and zooming in on different points so that it looks like a line. We completed the guided calculator activity in class.
Homework is to complete the worksheet 1. AB Calculus Step-by-Step (parts a - d). You will turn in Book 1.5 and your chapter review (including the first page of AP 1-1 problems 1 - 7, right after page 94) We complete our two part (calculator and non-calculator) test today. We will start chapter 2 on Monday.
Today students had 20 - 25 minutes to work in groups on their review questions. I came around to each group to address questions. For the last half of class we played Jeopardy over the chapter 1 material.
Test in chapter 1 is tomorrow (9/26) with 14 non-calculator and 9 calculator questions. We completed our 5 warm-up questions (4 on limits) and we completed a 12 question review of continuity (1.4). Students are to start working on the book review assignment and tomorrow will have about 20 minutes in class to complete it. I collected the book assignment 1.4 and WS 1.1 - 1.4.
Test on chapter 1 is this Thursday. For our warm-up we went over 4 trig review problems and 1 equation of a line given 2 points. We completed our notes on infinite limits, horizontal & vertical asymptotes.
Homework is to complete the book assignment 1.5 and have all 9 problems on WS 1. 1- 1.4 completed. I will collect the WS 1.1 - 1.4 & book 1.4 tomorrow. Use the links below for additional review/practice. Horizontal asymptotes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-yK2hUnSB0 Vertical asymptotes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qEOZNPce60 Infinite limits http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vwcLvb9A0s Limits at infinity http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVJNuukADeQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrKg_5CsfX0 Today we for our warm-up problems we did a quick review of unit circle trigonometry. We also went over #8 and #9 on the WS 1.1 - 1.4 packet. We used the rest of the time to complete the 1.3 Quiz.
Homework is to read 1.5 and watch the video link below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qEOZNPce60 We did a warm-up problem that combined the information from 1.2 & 1.4 (released AP question). We reviewed our techniques for determining limits and limit properties from 1.3 to prepare for tomorrow's quiz Students also received their chapter P tests back and had the opportunity to ask questions. The rest of class was for working in a small group on book assignment 1.4.
Today we went over 4 review problems from 1.3. Students put answers on the board. We also went through 1 - 4 on WS 1.1 - 1.4. Students are to complete 7 - 9 in that packet.
We also watched a short video on the intermediate value theorm (IVT). You can view it again at www.calculus-help.com . We also completed our notes on section 1.4. Homework: complete all of 1.4 and 7 - 9 on WS 1.1 - 1.4. Bring your books tomorrow. Quiz 1.3 (no calculator) will be this Friday, September 20th. Today we had 1 warm-up question on limits graphically and 8 problems on limits algebraically. We also dicussed questions on 1.3 (70, 85, 116, 120). Students turned in book assignment 1.2, 1.3 & WS Limits Graphically.
We also watched a short video on continuity. You can view it again using the link below or watch the other tutorials if you need help with 1.3 or 1.4. http://www.calculus-help.com/tutorials/ We also went through notes on continuity and the types of discontinuities. Homework is to complete all of book assignment 1.4 up to #53. Today we went over our 5 warm-up questions, lots of trig review. Students received their 1.1 - 1.2 quizzes and we discussed any questions. We did a 10 question quick review of 1.3 in class. We also completed our notes on 1.3.
Homework: Tomorrow I will collect book assignments 1.2 & 1.3 (all of it) & WS Limits Graphically packet. Please complete 1 - 4 on the WS packet from today (5th hour may complete 1 - 6). |
