We went over the factoring quiz from yesterday. We also played a Kahoot game that reviewed finding the zeros (similar to yesterday's entrance slip). Students worked on a DE quiz; go to discoveryeducation.com and log in with your school google account to complete the 8 question quiz on polynomials.
Homework: complete the WS 5.3 Test Prep (given out yesterday) and the back side 1 - 4. Tomorrow, we are having a 6 question quiz on find zeros. This is like our entrance slip from yesterday. Students completed a 6 question entrance slip on naming all the zeros of a polynomial (given the factored form and standard form of a polynomial). We went over this in class. We also went over questions from WS Analyzing & Solving Polynomial Equations. This was collected. Students used the last 15 - 20 minutes to complete the 5 questions factoring quiz.
HW: Complete WS 5.3 Test Prep & back side 1 - 4. Test is on 12/11. We started by checking the puzzle where students were asked to identify which sum or difference of cubes were factored incorrectly. Then we played a 16 question Kahoot game that reviewed sum or difference of cubes. We also went over some problems from the WS Factors & Zeros. This was collected.
Lastly, we solved polynomial equations that were not factored. So the first step in solving them is to factor them. We did 3 - 4 of these together. HW: Complete WS Analyzing & Solving Polynomial Equations (do both sides). Quiz tomorrow, 12/5, on factoring methods. We did a review of our work last week by going over WS 5.2 Test Prep and the back side. Students should be ready to turn this in tomorrow. Then we complete our notes on factoring the sum & difference of cubes. We did 5 examples together.
