Students received their quizzes back from yesterday. We went over WS Using Discriminant & Quadratic Formula. Students also received a study guide for Friday's test. We will go over any questions tomorrow.

Students completed WS 4.7 Test Prep and we went over this in class. Students are to complete the Quiz A on the back side. Students then completed their Quiz 5.
HW: Complete WS Using the Discriminant & Quadratic Formula (do front side and 1 - 4 on the back). Test is on Friday, 11/2. We completed our last notes for this unit on the discriminant, which is b^2 - 4ac. We completed 3 - 4 examples together. Students used the last 15 minutes to complete the last 2 pages.

Quiz tomorrow over discriminant and quadratic formula. Test will be this Friday, 11/2. Students received a 12 question review sheet on solving quadratic equations by factoring. The solutions are available when scanning the QR code. We finished our last problem on our notes, which involved a motion application problem. We used our vertex formula from standard form to find the maximum and the quadratic formula to find when the diver hit the water (h = 0). We reviewed how to use the TI-Nspire calculators to find decimal approximations.
HW: Complete the 12 questions review sheet (do one row a day) AND complete the WS Solving by Using the Quadratic Formula. You may leave your answer in decimal form, use 3 places (solutions are on the back). Test will be next Friday, 11/2. Students completed a 4 question warm-up on finding the zeros of a quadratic using factoring. This skill is in need of practice as evidenced on the last quiz. Students received their quizzes back and we went over any questions. Then we checked the first 2 questions on yesterday's homework. We also did #6 & 10 together. Then we worked on 3 -4 problems on the back side of our quadratic formula notes.

HW: Complete WS Quadratic Functions 1 - 10 Students worked on completing the review sheet from yesterday and then turned it in. Students logged onto DiscoveryEducation.com to complete a 10 question online quiz on solving quadratic equations. This took a little longer so we pushed our paper & pencil quiz back to Monday, 10/22.
HW: Complete any missing work and the DE Quiz (and revisit it if needed). Students reviewed the factoring and square methods at the beginning of class. Then we started our notes on the quadratic formula completing the front side.
HW: Complete the Review sheet given in class today. Quiz tomorrow on solving quadratics using factoring and the square root method. We looked at 10 new equations and discussed how they were different from the ones we used factoring & the zero product property. Then we completed 10 examples of how to solve a quadratic by using the square root method.
