Students had 10 minutes to complete WS 5.1 & the test prep questions. We went over lingering questions from 5.1. We also showed how to graph data and choose an appropriate function (2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th degree). Then we completed the first 2 pages of our 5.2 notes on finding the zeros of a cubic function and then graphing it.
HW: Complete WS 5.1 (both sides) & turn it if you have not yet done so. Cheer on the Cubs! With the textbook as a resource, students completed the 5.1 Additional Vocab Support sheet in class. We checked the front side. Then we used desmos.com to investigate the end behavior of linear, quadratic, cubic, quartic, quintic polynomials with lead coeffecients that were positive or negative. We classified the end behavior of 10 - 14 on the 5.1 Additional Vocab Support sheet. Then we completed about 5 of the 5.1 problems together. If you have not taken the test 4.7 - 4.8, it must be completed by 10/31.
HW: Complete all of WS 5.1 Students turned in their study guide to take the test 4.7 - 4.8. Those students who did not take the test will need to take it during a study hall, lunch, or before or after school. This will need to be completed by Monday, 10/31.
HW: Go Cubs! Students received back their quizzes from 4.8. Then we went over the entire study guide in class. Any missing work over 4.7 - 4.8 is due tomorrow.
HW: Test tomorrow, 10/25, over 4.7 - 4.8. Have your study guide completed & with you. We went over the first 6 questions from WS 4.8 Test Prep. Then students reviewed operations with complex numbers using Kahoot. Lastly, student completed their quiz 4.8.
HW: Complete the study guide for 4.7 - 4.8. Test will be Tuesday, 10/25. Students received 4.8 entrance slip #2. They had time to complete this with their tablemates and then we checked all 12 problems in class. Quiz 4.8 will be very similar to this review.
HW: Complete your work from 4.8 (WS Test Prep will be collected tomorrow) & Quiz 4.8 is tomorrow. Today students completed an 8 question review of operations with complex numbers. We also worked out the last 4 factoring (sum of squares) questions together.

Then we completed our notes on 4.8 using the conjugate when dividing complex numbers. We also solved 4 quadratic equations that resulted in complex numbers as solutions.

Turn in your WS Complex Number Maze & any missing work from 4.7. Students completed their quiz 4.7 (over quadratic formula and the discriminant). Students were also given 20 minutes to complete their quadratic equation chain challenge.
HW: Complete WS 4.8 1 - 11 only and turn in the WS Complex Number Maze. |
