Some students studied for other classes while the rest worked on the Desmos Marbleslides challenge using transformations with quadratic equations. This brought us back to where we started the semester.
Students also received their test back on graphing polynomials. Students turned in any missing work and completed their last test this semester on graphing polynomials.
Enjoy your winter break! Students were able to check their work on the review by using the answer key posted in their google classroom. 7th hour was able to play a Kahoot game (2nd hour did this last week) that reviewed end behavior. Students also played Desmos Polygraph Polynomials matching game.
HW: Complete any missing work - graphing packet was collected today. Test #7 is tomorrow. We worked together on a matching a given equation to a graph (15 to match up). We did the first 4 or 5 together and students used the class time to work on the rest. Students turned this in when they were done. All students received a review for test #7 on graphing polynomials. We will go over this tomorrow with our test on Wednesday, 12/21.
HW: Complete the review for test #7, the matching activity, & if needed finish the desmos activity from last week. Students worked in class on the Desmos Activity - match my polynomial. Then they worked on completing the last 2 pages of the graphing polynomials packet. 2nd hour also played a Kahoot game to review end behavior.
HW: Complete Desmos Activity - match my polynomial & graphing polynomials packet. We used Desmos to investigate how the multiplicity affects the behavior of the graph at the x-axis. We completed the first 2 pages of the Graphing Polynomials Packet from yesterday. Afterwards, students worked on the the Desmos activity Match My Polynomial.
HW: Complete the Desmos activity Match My Polynomial. Follow the direction in your google classroom. Retake of test #6 must be done by 12/19. Students received their Test #5 back today. Retakes must be completed by December 7th. We used our prior knowledge to make some simple graphs of even and odd degree polynomials (like y = x, y = x^2, and y = x^3). We used desmos.com to investigate the end behavior of cubic, quartic, quintic and other higher degree polynomials with lead coeffecients that were positive or negative.
We came up with this generalization: For polynomials with even degrees, if a> 0 then the end behavior is up, up. For polynomials with even degrees, if a< 0 then the end behavior is down, down. For polynomials with ODD degrees, if a> 0 then the end behavior is down, up. For polynomials with ODD degrees, if a< 0 then the end behavior is up, down. Retakes must be completed by 12/19. Students turned in any missing work and completed test #6.
HW: Enjoy the evening! Students in second hour were encouraged to complete the Discovery Education quiz from last Friday. Students completed their study guide from last Friday and checked it with the answer key in their google classroom. Students also received their quizzes back from last Friday. We went over questions from the quiz as well as questions on the study guide.
HW: Complete the DE Quiz & any missing work. Test #6 is tomorrow, 12/11. |
