3rd hour students went over the study guides while 7th hour took their last test over 5.4, 5.6, & 5.9. 3rd hour will have their last test on tomorrow, 12/21.
7th hour went over the review 5.4, 5.6, & 5.9. Solutions are posted on the Algebra 3-4 page. 3rd hour worked on the review packet and we went over the 3 additional problems on the WS Reteaching 5.9.
HW: Study for your last test. 7th hour has their 5.4, 5.6, & 5.9 test tomorrow. Students in 3rd hour completed their 5.9 notes on transformations. We looked at the effects from a, h, k and the new transformation which is a reflection over the y-axis (by changing x to -x). 7th hour received a study guide for their last test on Wednesday, 12/20.
HW: Turn in WS 5.9 & 7th hour is to complete the study guide 5.4, 5.6, 5.9. Students completed their quiz over 5.4/5.6 (DMA 12). 7th hour also completed the last notes of the semester on transformations of cubic and quartic functions.
7th hour: complete the attached WS 5.9 We went over #5 on WS 5.6 and did 7 and 8 together. Students used the graphing calculator to find the real zeros of the polynomial. Students had 25 minutes to complete WS 5.6.
HW: Complete WS 5.6. Quiz 5.4 & 5.6 is tomorrow. Test next week, Wednesday for 7th hour and Thursday for 3rd hour. We completed most of our 5.6 notes with the big idea being the fundamental theorem of algebra (the number of complex zeros, including multiple zeros = the degree of the polynomial). We also used technology (graphing calculator) to help us find real zeros of a polynomial where we could not make use of any factoring methods. Then we used synthetic division to find the rest of the solutions (including complex). We saw the sometimes we needed to use the quadratic formula to find the other zeros from the remaining quadratic.

Students worked at the boards in problems from 5.4, dividing polynomials with long division and synthetic division, determining if a binomial is a factor of the polynomial, and finding the value of the polynomial at a given point.
HW: Complete your 5.4 WS and the Worksheet from yesterday. We went over the front side of WS 5.4. We did about half of the back side together and then they had class time to complete and I collected it. Students had time to work on the WS Remainder and Factor Theorems.
HW: WS Remainder and Factor Theorems (1 - 6, and 9 - 17 odd). We completed our day 2 notes on the remainder and factor theorems.
HW: Complete WS 5.4 front side (1 - 13). |
