Students were able to see how they did on the district math assessment from yesterday. We went over each question. Then we went through the review 7.1 - 7.2.
HW: Complete the review 7.1 - 7.2 packet. Test 7.1 - 7.2 is tomorrow, 3/23. Students received their Quiz 7.1 back. We discussed how the rate was not the base of the exponential function. b = 1 + or - rate. Then students had the class time to complete the District Math Assessment on the material from 7.1 - 7.2.
HW: Complete the Review 7.1 - 7.2. We went over the 7.2 Test Prep and collected it. We also went over questions from the 7.2 WS Half-Life Problems. We reviewed the graphing method on the TI-Nspire as well as using the e^x button (for interest that is compounded continuously).
Students also received a review packet 7.1 - 7.2. Students should have this completed by Thursday. District Math Assessment over 7.1 - 7.2 is tomorrow, 3/21. Students completed a 3 question warm-up over 7.1. We went over this in class. Then students had time to complete their Quiz 7.1 from last Friday. Students used the rest of class to turn in any missing work from 7.1 as well as WS 7.2 (1 - 25) and book 7.2.
HW: Complete WS 7.2 Test Prep & Half-Life Worksheet 1 - 10. Test 7.1 - 7.2 will be this Friday, 3/23. We went over our work on WS 7.2 and completed 7 - 10 together. Then students worked on their Quiz 7.1. Students will have 10 minutes on Monday, 3/19 to complete their quiz.
HW: Complete your work from 7.2 (Worksheets, including the half-life problems 1 - 10, and book 7.2). We watched a short video(first one below) on what is a half-life and solved 4 - 5 half-life problems.
Use the videos for review/practice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js7weHZIQ5o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzJF31Y2-rc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auVH-tAxYgI HW: Complete the WS Half-life Problems (1 - 10). Quiz 7.1 is tomorrow, 3/16. To celebrate Pi day, student measured the circumference and diameter on 3 circular objects and then calculated the ratio of circumference to diameter and hopefully were close to 3.14 (pi). After collecting the data, they ate up the cookies.
Then we used desmos to show how a basic exponential function like y = 2^x can be transformed by a, h and k values. This is just an extension of the transformations we examined with quadratics, cubics, and radical functions. HW: Complete book 7.2 (listed on the notes sheet from today). Students had time at the beginning of class to complete 3 questions on WS 7.1 Reteaching and then questions 1 - 6 on the front side of the 7.2 packet. Students checked their work from yesterday's review 7.1 worksheet.
We learned about the difference in compounding interest annually (like we did in 7.1) versus continuously. We showed how to use the Pe^(rt) formula for continuously compounded interest. We set up 5 - 7 problems together that used the Pe^(rt) formula. We worked through a couple of examples together and showed how to use the e^x button on the calculator. Use the link for additional review/practice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyJM1n0AvZI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auVH-tAxYgI HW: Complete 14 - 25 in today's WS 7.2 packet. We went over WS 7.1 Practice that students worked on. They were able to check their work. Students also received back their test from last week. Those students who wish to reassess must complete the work from 6.6 - 6.8 (listed under Standard 10 in IC), meet with me to go over their errors and then complete any additional practice given. The last day to take a re-test is March 22nd.
Students used the rest of class to work on today's review worksheet. 7th hour also played a Kahoot game which reviewed exponential growth/decay and identifying the rate of increase/decrease. HW: Complete both sides of today's review worksheet. |
