HW: Complete Desmos Match my Parabola & WS Review (4.1).
Students completed a 6 question entrance slip on transformation of y = x^2. Then students worked on a review of graphing parabolas in vertex form. We checked the front side together and 7 - 9 on the back. Students used the last 10 - 15 minutes to work on their quiz. Time will be given on Tuesday to complete it.

We completed the front page of WS Quadratic Transformations. This is a good summary of the effects of a, h, and k for a parabola in vertex form. Students were also asked to name the vertex on problems 1 - 10. Students were given time to work on Desmos: Match My Parabola, using the effect of a, h, and k to write the equation of the parabola in vertex form to get a parabola to go through the 3 given points.
HW: Desmos: Match My Parabola (through slide #13) Students completed a 6 question entrance slip. Scores are recorded in IC. Students are to complete the absolute value quiz in google classroom. We worked through 4 absolute value review problems together. Students are to complete the other 6. Lastly, we looked at key features on the 10 parabolas graphed yesterday. We completed 3 of the 8 together, and students complete the rest.
HW: Complete both sides of WS Absolute Value Transformations & the Absolute Value Quiz in google classroom. Students completed a 4 question entrance slip on absolute value transformations. We checked this in class. Then we went over the graphs from yesterday (1 - 5). Students are to complete the rest of the graphs (6 - 10) on the graphing parabolas worksheet and chart.
Students were also asked to complete the transformations quiz in google classroom. Students completed a 4 question entrance slip on transformations. We checked this in class. 2nd hour played a Kahoot review game on transformations. All classes completed the 4 graphs which examined the effects of a, h, and k on the parabola (y = x^2).
HW: Complete the 5 graphs and corresponding chart. Students completed their transformation graphs day 2 which we checked in class. 7th hour also played a Kahoot game on transformations of the absolute value function.
HW: Turn in WS Transformation Graphs Day 2 if you have not yet done so. 2nd hour started the transformation notes, while 7th hour completed the transformation notes. 2nd hour, we also discussed slide #13 in the desmos absolute value activity.
HW: Complete the desmos absolute value activity and 7th hour is to complete WS Parent Functions Day 2. 2nd hour started the desmos absolute value graphs and 7th hour completed it. We also collected the WS Circuit Training. We showed how to mark this turned in using google classroom. Students will see this recorded in IC.
7th hour started looking at translating (sliding) other functions such as y = x (linear) and y = x^2 (quadratic). In 7th hour, Students used their chromebooks to sign into google classroom. Students were introduced to the information under the Classwork tab. We went over questions from the WS Circuit Training and collected it.
For the rest of the class, students worked on investigating transformations of the absolute value function, y = |x|. 2nd hour used desmos to examine the graph of the absolute value function, y = |x|. We looked at how we could move this graph up or down (the effect of k) and how the graph moved left or right (the effect of h). They started working on a matching activity that will be completed on Friday. HW: Complete the desmos activty: absolute value graphs. Students received the course syllabus and we went over it together. Then students were asked to think of what will be their slogan for this year. Students were asked to name the company or item with the given slogans. All slogans could be used for school or our math class.
Lastly, students received a worksheet that reviewed solving linear equations. Students worked on this in class and are to complete it for tomorrow. HW: WS Circuit Training - linear equations. |
