HW: Test 6.6-6.8 is a 2 part test. We will do the graphing portion covering 6.8 tomorrow. The other part 6.6-6.7 is on Tuesday, March 6.
Students completed their Partner Quiz 6.8. Then we went over the graphing problems (section 6.8) on the review packet. 3rd hour also went over the WS Graphing Radical Functions #2 (1 - 12). Please turn this in tomorrow with your WS 6.8 day 2.

For 5 different given graphs, we identified the a, h, k and parent function in order to write an equation to match the graph. Then we completed the WS 6.8 Vocab Support and WS 6.8 Test Prep in the WS 6.6 Test Prep Packet. Students should turn this in turn tomorrow.
Students worked on their Quiz 6.8 with a partner. They also received a review packet 6.6 - 6.8. HW: Complete the Review 6.6 - 6.8 by Thursday. Test 6.6 - 6.8 is Thursday, 3/1. Students completed a 1/2 sheet where they graphed 3 radical equations. We went over these in class and also identified their transformations, domain and range.
Then we completed part 3 of the 6.8 notes which involved re-writing a radical equation so that we could correctly identify the a and h values. HW: Complete the Worksheet from today (both sides) and your 8 graphs from WS 6.8 day 2 should be done. Quiz 6.8 is tomorrow, 2/27. Test 6.6 - 6.8 is on 3/1. Students created the graph of the cube root function by using steps similar to graphing the square root function. Students identified the a, h,and k and started the graph at (h, k). Then we used the "a" value both to the right and left of (h, k) and then moved the "a" value again for 8 units moved left and right from the starting point. One key difference was the shape, being like a squiggle. The cube root function has a domain and range of all real numbers, unlike the square root function.

Test will be next week on 3/1. We went over the Quiz 6.7 in 7th hour, while the juniors in 3rd hour completed theirs. We checked over the WS 6.8 Reteaching and made the 8 graphs together. Students identified key values in the square root function, such as the a, h and k.
HW: Complete graphs A - D on the WS 6.8 day 2 worksheet. We went over all problems from yesterday's WS Inverse Functions. Students kept this as part of their 6.7 review/notes. Then we completed the first page of our 6.8 notes on graphing the square root function. We reviewed what we learned about transformations and the effects of a, h, and k. We saw that the domain and range are connected to h and k.

Then students took their 6.7 quiz.
HW: Complete WS Inverse Functions (front and back). We used Kahoot to review inverse functions, as well as review the switch and solve technique for algebraically finding the inverse of a function. Then students took the quiz 6.7.
Anyone wishing to retake the first test must do so by this Friday, 2/23.You must complete any missing work from 6.1-6.5 (standard 10 in IC). HW: Those who did not take the 6.7 quiz will do so in class tomorrow. Please complete any missing work from 6.6 - 6.7 under Standard 10 in IC Students completed a 10 question entrance slip over 6.6. We went over this in class. We also checked the 18 statements about inverses where students picked option A or B. We also reviewed the switch and solve technique for finding an inverse of a function.
HW: Turn in book 6.6 and your work from this week (pink worksheet from yesterday and the finding inverses WS from Tuesday). Quiz 6.7 is tomorrow, 2/16. Students received their quiz 6.6 back and we went over common errors, particularly on the composition of functions. Students were given a white and pink worksheets. On the pink sheet, students were given the task of finding the inverse function for another function (start with a(x) and find its inverse). On the white sheet, students were asked to choose column A or B for 18 statements on or related to inverses.
During the last 10 minutes we played a quick Kahoot game which reviewed function operations. HW: Happy Valentine's Day. |
