HW: Complete any missing work. Test #2 is tomorrow, February 13th.
Students worked on completing the following today in class: the DE Quiz: Logarithms, completed the 4 question review - which we checked in class, and checked their review with the answer key posted in the stream of their google classroom. During the last 15 - 20 minutes of class we went over questions with the review and 3rd hour played a 3 minute 2-person team GimKit game as review.

Student had the class period to work on these three items:
1) DE Quiz: Logarithms 2) any missing work 3) Complete the review for test #2 HW: Complete any missing work. Test #2 Exponential & Log Functions is Thursday 2/13. Students completed the 4 problem warm-up with their assigned group of 4 - 5 people. This was checked in class. Then students completed 1 problem at their table in 2 minutes. Students then rotated to the next "station" and completed another problem in 2 minutes. So they tackled 5 logarithmic equations before returning to their home base.
Students were reminded to complete the DE Quiz: Logarithms, and used the last 15 minutes of class to work on it. Students also received their Friday quizzes back. We will go over these tomorrow. Students were also asked to link their Khan academy account to the (school's) Clever account by clicking the link in the Stream of their Google Classroom. HW: Complete the DE Quiz: Logarithms & complete any missing work. Test is this Thursday, 2/13. Students completed problems 5 & 6 on Test Prep 7.5. We went over this together and answered questions from the back side. This was collected. Students signed into discoveryeducation.com with their school google account to start the Quiz: Logarithms. Then we played a team GimKit review game, length of 5 minutes. During the last 20 minutes, students completed Quiz #3.
HW: Complete the DE Quiz: Logarithms. Test #2 will be next week on 2/13. Students completed the 1 - 4 on Test Prep 7.5 & we checked it in class. We also went over questions from 19 - 26 on yesterday's Kuta worksheet (Solving Log & Exponential Equations). Then we completed problem 13 - 18 together. On 17 & 18, we reviewed how to solve a quadratic equation by factoring it.
This worksheet was collected. HW: Students should complete the back side of Test Prep 7.5. Quiz tomorrow on solving log & exponential equations. We worked on completing the last four problems from Monday's notes. I did two problems and the students worked on 2 problems with their group (of 4). Then we checked over the back side of the Log Maze. This was collected. Students then completed and checked 4 exponential equations with the Pass the Paper Activity.
HW: Complete 19 - 26 on yesterday's WS Kuta Solving Exponential & Log Equations. Students worked in groups of 4 to complete the front side of the Kuta WS Solving Exponential & Log Equations. We reviewed the method of finding common bases as well as using a logarithm to solve an exponential equation. Each group put their work from one problem (8 - 12) on the board and we evaluated the work.
Then we worked on the back side of the Solving Log Equations Maze. We completed 3 - 4 problems together. HW: Complete the back side of the Solving Log Equations Maze & have the front of Kuta WS Solving Exponential & Log Equations completed. Students started by writing out their own exponential equations - focusing on 3 key parts: base, power and number. We identified the 3 step process for solving exponential equations which connected back to our work from last week: converting from log form to exponential and vice versa. Together we completed 9 equations and set up 1 - 4 on the Person Puzzle - Sonia Sotomayor.
We also showed how to use the change of base formula to evaulate a log of any base. This information is also posted in your google classroom.
