We went over Test Prep 6-7 and then students had time to work on WS Kuta Inverse Functions. We did 17 & 18 together. Students also received their Friday quizzes back.

Students completed a warm-up question using desmos to find the inverse of y = 2x - 8. We checked the inverse graphically by testing 2 points, composing the functions to see that the composition give us the line y = x. We also checked this algebraically by composing the functions. Then we looked at how we could use the vertical line test (VLT) to see if a graph is a function (must have only 1 intersection point at a time). We saw that both the line y = 2x - 8 and its inverse are functions.
We also looked at the inverse of y = x^2. We saw that we needed to use both positive and negative square root of x to generate the inverse graph. Our original function passed the VLT; however, its inverse did not. We discussed how the horizontal line test (HLT) will tell if the original function's inverse is a function. Students complete 18 question statement sheet about inverses, which we checked in class. Lastly, student used the last 15 - 20 minutes to complete quiz #5. HW: Complete Test Prep 6-7 (on the back of the 18 Quick Questions - Inverse Function sheet). We went over WS Inverse Functions - Equations. Then we did the first 2 questions on the back side (identifying pairs) together. Students had time to complete the other 6 questions and also complete the desmos activity: practice with inverses.
HW: Turn in any missing work and complete the desmos activity: practice with inverses. Quiz #5 on functions operations & composition is tomorrow. Use your partner quiz from last week for review. We completed the last page of our notes on inverse functions. Then students worked on a desmos activity: practice with inverse functions. We did the first 6 slides together. Students are to complete the rest of the activity.
HW: Complete desmos: practice with inverse functions. Turn in any missing work. Retake on test #1 is due by 2/19. Students looked at composite functions graphically, and looked at the types of functions that when composed created the line y = x. We saw that the inverse switches (reverses) the order of the coordinates in the original function. We also could see that the inverse function undoes the original function. We used this idea to create the inverse function. Then we looked at these graphically using desmos. We saw that the function and its inverse are reflections over the line y= x. We also showed how to find a function's inverse algebraically by using the switch and solve method.

Students completed a 5 question review of function operations & compositions. We checked this together and then students completed WS 6-6 Test Prep 1- 5 which we also checked. On the front side of it, we discussed questions from this weekend's homework. This was collected. Students used the last part of class to complete their partner quiz on function operations & composition.
HW: Complete any missing work! Students completed a 10 question warm-up working with a partner, answers were posted on the board. We discussed these and then played an 8 question Kahoot game that composed functions. Lastly, students were together on a partner quiz that will be completed on Monday, February 11th.
HW: Complete Function Composition Worksheet (1 - 20) and any missing work. We checked over WS 6-6 and it was collected. Students had time to work on WS Function Operations & Composition. We discussed #30 and #31 together. We showed how we could check our answer graphically with desmos.

Then we went over WS 6.6 Reteaching. Next we played a Kahoot game that reviewed composite functions algebraically, graphically, and with tables.
HW: Complete WS 6.6 (do both sides). Students were reminded of retake opportunity for test 1 and this must be completed by February 19th. All missing work must be completed prior to meeting with me.
We completed our notes on combining functions using operations addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We also showed how to compose functions.
