HW: Complete the DE Quiz & any missing work. Test #6 is tomorrow, 12/11.

Students in second hour were encouraged to complete the Discovery Education quiz from last Friday. Students completed their study guide from last Friday and checked it with the answer key in their google classroom. Students also received their quizzes back from last Friday. We went over questions from the quiz as well as questions on the study guide.

Students in 7th hour started by working on the online quiz with DiscoveryEducation.com. All students should complete this by Monday, 12/11. All students received a study guide for the upcoming Test 6. Please complete it as we will go over it on Monday, 12/10. Students also took a 6 question quiz on factors and zeros of polynomials.
HW: Complete study guide for test #6 & any missing work. Test is Tuesday, 12/11. We went over the factoring quiz from yesterday. We also played a Kahoot game that reviewed finding the zeros (similar to yesterday's entrance slip). Students worked on a DE quiz; go to discoveryeducation.com and log in with your school google account to complete the 8 question quiz on polynomials.
Homework: complete the WS 5.3 Test Prep (given out yesterday) and the back side 1 - 4. Tomorrow, we are having a 6 question quiz on find zeros. This is like our entrance slip from yesterday. Students completed a 6 question entrance slip on naming all the zeros of a polynomial (given the factored form and standard form of a polynomial). We went over this in class. We also went over questions from WS Analyzing & Solving Polynomial Equations. This was collected. Students used the last 15 - 20 minutes to complete the 5 questions factoring quiz.
HW: Complete WS 5.3 Test Prep & back side 1 - 4. Test is on 12/11. We started by checking the puzzle where students were asked to identify which sum or difference of cubes were factored incorrectly. Then we played a 16 question Kahoot game that reviewed sum or difference of cubes. We also went over some problems from the WS Factors & Zeros. This was collected.
Lastly, we solved polynomial equations that were not factored. So the first step in solving them is to factor them. We did 3 - 4 of these together. HW: Complete WS Analyzing & Solving Polynomial Equations (do both sides). Quiz tomorrow, 12/5, on factoring methods. We did a review of our work last week by going over WS 5.2 Test Prep and the back side. Students should be ready to turn this in tomorrow. Then we complete our notes on factoring the sum & difference of cubes. We did 5 examples together.

Shade the problems that are incorrectly factored. Students completed Test Prep 5.1 as a warm-up and we checked it in class. We also played a Kahoot game to review operations with polynomials. Then we completed a review of the box method and looked at how we could factor quartic trinomials that were "quadratic" like. We completed the first side of our notes.
HW: Complete the back side of Test Prep 5.1 & complete WS Factors & Zeros. Students completed 5 warm-up questions on WS 5.1 Test Prep. We checked these in class. We also completed the also 4 examples on writing a polynomial equation in standard form given its zeros. We went over questions from WS 5.1 and WS Made in the Shade. Both of these were collected.

We went over questions from the front side of WS 5.1. Then we completed 8 examples on how to find the zeros of a polynomial, first in factored form. Then using our factoring skills to rewrite the polynomial in factored form, we determined its zeros. We also confirmed our work, by graphing the original polynomial and then looking at its x-intercepts. These are the real zeros!

Students completed the 5.1 Additional Vocab Support sheet in class which reviewed how to classify a polynomial by its degree and number of terms. We used completed on notes (8 examples) on adding, subtracting, and multiplying polynomials. We also classified the polynomial by the degrees and the number of terms.
