Student had the class period to work on these three items:
1) DE Quiz: Logarithms 2) 1/2 sheet warm-up (4 questions) & we went over this in class 3) Complete & check their review for test #2 We went over questions on the review during the last 15 minutes of class. HW: Complete any missing work. Test #2 Exponential & Log Functions is tomorrow, 2/12. Students completed the 4 problem warm-up with their assigned group of 4 - 6 people. This was checked in class. Then students completed 2 problems at their table in 3 minutes. Students then rotated to the next "station" and completed 2 more problems in 3 minutes. So they tackled 10 logarithmic equations before returning to their home base.
Students were reminded to complete the DE Quiz: Logarithms. Students also received their Friday quizzes back. We will go over these tomorrow. Students were also asked to link their Khan academy account to the (school's) Clever account by clicking the link in the Stream of their Google Classroom. HW: Complete the Review for Test #2 that you received today & complete any missing work. Students completed problems 5 & 6 on Test Prep 7.5. We went over this together and answered questions from the back side. This was collected. Students signed into discoveryeducation.com with their school google account to start the Quiz: Logarithms. Then we played a team GimKit review game, length of 5 minutes. During the last 20 minutes, students completed Quiz #3.
WS Test Prep 7.4/Log Properties Puzzle was collected. HW: Complete the DE Quiz: Logarithms. Test #2 will be next week on Wednesday, 2/12. Students completed the 1 - 4 on Test Prep 7.5 & we checked it in class. We also went over questions from the 10 problems on yesterday's riddle worksheet (why are you drumming on your algebra 2 book?). Then we went through our notes on solving log equations using log properties.

Quiz tomorrow on solving log & exponential equations. Students completed the Test Prep 7.4 (on the back of yesterday's puzzle) which reviewed the log properties. We checked this in class. Then we checked over the back side of the Log Maze. On a few problems we needed to use the log properties to rewrite the original problem (condense into 1 logarithm) or to rewrite the answer using the power proprety. This was collected.
Students then completed and checked 4 exponential equations with the Pass the Paper Activity. Lastly we played a Team Kahoot game which reviewed solving exponential and log equations. HW: Complete 1 - 11 (skip #3 for now) on Today's riddle worksheet: Why are you drumming your algebra 2 book? Check your answer with the 2 choices on the other side. On yesterday's puzzle, complete 1 - 8. Students worked in groups of 4 to complete 10 - 21 on the last page of yesterday's notes. Each group put their work from two problems (10 - 21) on the board and we evaluated the work. Students checked over the person puzzle - Tracy Chapman and turned it in.
Then we worked on the back side of the Solving Log Equations Maze. We completed 4 - 5 problems together. Students should complete this and turn it in tomorrow. Students worked together to evaluate the logarithms from log 1 through log 20. They were asked to identify any patterns.
Students were able to see the properties of adding logarithms [log x + log y = log(xy)]. We also looked at its "sister" property of subtracting logarithms [log x - log y = log(x/y)]. We completed the last page of the activity together, summarizing the power property of logarithms. Also complete the Person Puzzle - Tracy Chapman. |
