Students received their partner quizzes back today. They also received the solutions to their review in google classroom (in the Stream tab). We went over remaining questions. Students also received 1 more quick self quiz and answers are also posted in google classroom.
HW: Study for your test #2, which is tomorrow, 9/28. Students completed a 4 question warm-up on solving quadratic equations using factoring and the ZPP. We checked this in class. We went over questions from the front side of WS 4.5 and showed how to solve by graphing with Desmos. On the back side, we did 3 problems together and the application problem. Students also received a review for their test on Friday.
Lastly, students worked with a partner on an 8 question quiz on solving quadratics by factoring & the ZPP. HW: Complete the Review for Test #2. Test will be this Friday, 9/28. Students received their factoring quiz back from last Friday. We talked about the last 2 questions. Then we worked together to complete the 4.5 Cornell notes which focused on solving a quadratic equation using factoring and the ZPP (zero product property). We completed 7 examples together. We also did nearly all of the circuit training together.

Test #2 is Friday, 9/28. 4th hour went over WS 4.4 Test Prep. Then we completed 3 more graphs together either using intercept form or standard form to create the parabola. Then students used the rest of class to complete their quiz. We collected the Graphing in Factored Form Worksheet #2 (not the attached 12 graphs).
HW: Happy Homecoming! Using whiteboards, students worked in groups of 4 to completely factor 8 different polynomials. Students were able to help each other and check their work with the answers. The teacher visited each group, answering questions and coaching students in the right direction. Together we factored 4 more questions that used the grouping (box) method.
5th hour was able to check through WS 4.4 Test Prep. We discussed how to use multiple choice options to arrive at an answer more quickly than working out the entire problem. Lastly, we show how we could use our factoring skills to rewrite a standard form equation into an intercept form equation. This can lead us to graphing the equation with this technique if students prefer this to graphing with standard form. We also saw that some equations cannot be factored, so graphing in standard form is still useful. Use the link below for review or practice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCYRe5fTRvw HW: Complete the Desmos activity from yesterday, Graphing in Factored Form WS #2 (front & back). Quiz #3 on factoring is tomorrow, 9/21. Students were given the first 15 - 20 minutes of class to work on the desmos activity: roots of quadratic functions. If this was completed students did WS 4.4 Test Prep 1 - 6. We also went over a couple of the factoring by grouping problems & collected the circuit training. We also discussed the quiz results & questions.
HW: Complete the desmos activity, WS 4.4 Test Prep 1 - 6, and the first 2 problems on Graphing Quadratics in Intercept Form WS #2. Students reviewed completely factoring trinomials by working out problems on the board. Students had feedback from their peers as well as the teacher. Students worked on completing the Circuit Training - factoring by grouping. Students also completed their quiz.
HW: Complete & turn in the Circuit Training - factoring by grouping & do Desmos: Roots of Quadratic Functions. We saw how the grouping method (given 4 terms) is just a variation of the box method. If students do not wish to use the box method, we used the idea of grouping the first 2 terms together & then the last 2 together and taking out the GCF of each group. This should give a common group to factor out.

Students completed WS 4.4 in class as we did 19 - 22 & 35 - 39 together. We also went over questions from 23 - 34. 5th hour had time to go over the graphing in intercept form exit slip. Then students had about 20 minutes for their quiz #2. Most students did not finish the quiz and will get 5 - 10 minutes to complete the quiz on Monday.
