Enjoy your Winter Break. Happy Holidays!
Students received their tests back from yesterday. We talked about some common errors and then played math Bingo for the rest of the class period.

Students completed their Test #7 and turned in any missing work on this topic. Semester grades will be posted later today.
Students completed a 2 question warm-up which reviewed finding zeros on the graphing calculator. We checked these 2 questions in class. Students received their quizzes back and we went over #3 together. Students also received a study guide for their last test and had time to work on it in class. The answer key to the study guide is posted in the Stream of your google classroom. We also collected WS 5.6.
HW: Complete and check your study guide for test #7 which is tomorrow, 12/20. Students played a Kahoot game to review synthetic division, factors and zeros. Then students completed Quiz 9 with a partner.
HW: Complete WS 5.6. Our last test of the semester is Thursday, 12/20. We completed our last notes of the semester on finding all the zeros, with the big idea being the rational root theorem and the fundamental theorem of algebra (the number of complex zeros, including multiple zeros = the degree of the polynomial). We also used technology (graphing calculator) to help us find real zeros of a polynomial where we could not make use of any factoring methods. Then we used synthetic division to find the rest of the solutions (including complex). We saw the sometimes we needed to use the quadratic formula to find the other zeros from the remaining quadratic.

Quiz 9 on long & synthetic division is tomorrow. We completed a 3 question warm-up on long and synthetic division. Students also checked their work on WS 5.4. This was collected. We went through examples on our day 2 notes.
HW: WS Remainder & Factor Theorems: do 1, 3, 6, 10 - 18. We did a quick recap of long division and synthetic division. Then we went through the first 6 problems from WS 5.4 together. Then we used the remainder theorem and synthetic substitution to determine the value of a polynomial function. Students completed the first side of WS 5.4 in class.
HW: Complete WS 5.4. We reviewed the standard algorithm for division and we used that as we divided a polynomial by a quadratic or a linear binomial. We completed 6 examples together in class.

Retakes need to be completed by 12/19. HW: You may start working on WS 5.4. Students turned in any missing work and completed test #6.
HW: Enjoy the evening! Students were encouraged to complete the Discovery Education quiz from last week and their Desmos activities. Students completed their study guide from last Friday and checked it with the answer key in their google classroom. We went over questions from the study guide.
HW: Complete the DE Quiz & any missing work. Test #6 is tomorrow, 12/11. |
