HW: Complete the study guide. Test is Friday.
We went over any remaining questions from the Circuit Training worksheets and collected it. We also went over the entire Quiz 6.7 - 6.8. Students also worked out a step in solving a radical equation.

During the first part of class we went over questions from yesterday’s circuit training worksheet. Then students completed their quiz 6.7 - 6.8. Students were also given a study guide which we will go through on Thursday.
We went over questions from the WS 6.8 day 1 and day 2 sheets. Both of these were collected. Students also completed a 3 question practice quiz on graphing square root and cube root functions (6.8). We checked this in class. Students also had some time to work on WS Circuit Training - functions.
HW: Quiz 6.7 - 6.8 is tomorrow. Complete at least half of your WS CIrcuit Training. 6.5 - 6.8 Test is on Friday, 2/2. We went over WS 6.8 Vocab Support and Test Prep. We also went over any questions from the first 8 graphs on WS 6.8 day 1. We showed how we could factor out the leading coefficient making the square root function easier to name the transformations. Students used the rest of class to work on WS 6.8 day 2.
HW: Complete WS 6.8 day 2. Our first test will be next Friday, 2/2. We completed our notes on graphing cube (2nd hour did square root as well) root functions. A key difference between these graphs is that the domain and range of the cube root function is all real numbers. We showed that the pivot point of the cube root function is (h, k). On the square root function, the point of origin is (h, k).

We also went over questions from book 6.7 and this was collected. We also looked at how to graph the square root function, making sure the domain has the radicand at least zero.
HW: 2nd hour: Complete the inverse function match up. Turn in any missing work. We checked through 3 items: WS 6.6 Test Prep, the 1/2 sheet homework quiz over 6.6, and the 18 questions on inverses (pick column A or B). Students completed their short quiz 6.6. They used the rest of class to check their work on WS Inverse Functions & work on WS 6.7 Test Prep & book 6.7.
HW: Complete the back side of WS Inverse Functions, WS 6.7 Test Prep & book 6.7. We completed the TI-Nspire investigation that was started on last Friday. We showed how we could use the switch and solve technique to find the inverse of a function. We also checked the inverse graphically, verifying that the points were reversed from the original function. We also saw that the inverse function was a reflection over the line y = x.
HW: Make any revisions to your 18 statements from last week (you chose column A or B), complete the 1/2 sheet review on functions (6.6), and complete the front side of WS Inverse Functions. Short quiz 6.6 is tomorrow, 1/23. 2nd hour completed their 6.5 quiz & 6th hour received theirs back. We went over the book 6.6 assignment & collected it. We started a TI-Nspire investigation on inverses. We saw that the inverse switches (reverses) the order of the coordinates in the original function. We checked this with a set of points as well as various lines. From our data tables for the linear function and its inverse, we wrote the equation of both lines using y = mx + b (slope-intercept form).
HW: Complete WS 6.6 Test Prep 1 - 5. Turn in any missing work. Due to the number of students who enjoyed Hamilton yesterday, we quickly went over the 6.6 notes and they are posted on the Honors Algebra 3-4 page (click the tab). We finished the application problem using composition of functions. Then students took their 6.5 quiz.

This will be collected tomorrow. Also, complete the 18 questions on inverses where you choose column A or B. |
