HW: Study for finals! Final exam in this class is Friday, 12/19.
Students had the opportunity to ask questions about their final exam packets, which they received last Friday. Students also had the last 12 minutes to finish anything they did not from yesterday's test. They also were able to see how they did on their questions (work that was done was graded).

Students completed their test on 4.8 - 5.3.
HW: Be ready to go over the review packet. Solutions are on the SHS webpage. Students had time to go over questions from book 5.3. Then they worked on WS Practice test for 4.8 - 5.3. Students were given graphing calculators to use to find local minimum or local maximum or zeros.
Students were given a final exam review packet. HW: Complete WS Practice test & any missing work from 4.8 - 5.3. Test is Monday, 12/15. Today we went over questions from WS 5.3. We also completed the last 3 problems on the back side of WS 5.3. Students were give the last 14 minutes of class to work on the book 5.3 assignment.
Use the video for extra practice/help. We are writing the complex solutions, do not cross them out as he does at the end of the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ghwoHfRH2E HW: Page 301 - 302 11 - 23 every 3rd problem, 37, 38, 40, 49 - 56, 61 - 64 We used the formula to factor sum or difference of cubes. We did 5 examples together. We also saw that we could solve a polynomial equation by factoring it (always start with GCF) and then using the ZPP (zero product property).

Then we used our factoring techniques from chapter 4 to factor polynomials. We started using the GCF and then factored mostly with a guess and check technique.
We also were about to determine the zeros of a function if it was factored. We were able to write a polynomial in standard form given the zeros of a function. HW: WS 5.2 (front side only) We completed our 5.1 notes by reviewing our work from Friday and examing the behavior of even functions (symmetry with the y-axis) and odd functions (symmetry with the origin, rotation of 180 degrees).
We matched an function to an existing graph and we were able to identify a function as even or odd and also identify the sign of the leading coeffecient. HW: Book 5.1 assignment page 285 - 287 8 - 29 every 3rd, 35, 43 - 49, 58 - 60, 62 Students completed their Quiz 4.8, turned in WS 4.8 (handed out on 12/1) and turned in the book assignment 4.8 (from work day with the sub on 12/3).
We started discussing the vocabulary in section 5.1 on polynomials. HW: None if you have completed your work from this week. Enjoy the weekend! Students completed the WS 4.8 test prep questions at the beginning of class. Groups were monitored and had questions answered. Then we went over book questions from yesterday: 64, 66, 67, 76, 48.
Then we completed 2 more system problems from section 4.9. HW: On your page from yesterday (page 262 14 - 20 evens, please add 17, 19, 21 - 25) and be ready for Quiz 4.8 tomorrow, 12/5. Students used class time to complete the book 4.8/4.9 assignment below.
