Today students had their first test on geometric terms, segment addition, midpoint and distance. The practice test was also turned in.
If you have not completed your 2 electronic assignments on www.tenmarks.com please do so. Enjoy your weekend. Today we went over the practice test. We also did some vocabulary review (point, line plane, ray) and did additional midpoint and distance examples in class.
All missing work will need to be completed and turned in by tomorrow for late credit. ALso, please complete your 2 e;ectronic assignments on www.tenmarks.com . Your first test is tomorrow, 9/13. Today students had time in class to work on their Practice Test. Students also completed their requiz (1st hour will do theirs tomorrow). We also went over questions on the first page of the practice test. This practice test should be completed by tomorrow, September 12th.
Reminder: please complete both electronic assignments on www.tenmarks.com by this Friday 9/ Students used the first part of class to complete the activity: As the Crow Flies. We used geogebra to check our work. Students were also given a Practice Test. That should be completed by Thursday, 9/12. Our first test will be Friday, September 13th.
Reminder: complete your TenMarks assignment, a second one has been added to help your review for the test. Students received their quizzes from Friday. We went over the answers and students with a score of 8 or less will requiz this Wednesday. We also did a review problem on distance and midpoint. Then students received the Activity: As the Crow Flies and are to complete both sides of the worksheet. Student had about 20 minutes to work on the activity.
For the first half hour of class we reviewed segment addition, distance and midpoint. Students completed their quiz and turned in 3 worksheets: 1.5 Practice (1 - 13), Midpoint & Distance Lesson 2 (1 - 8) and Pairs Check (both sides completed).
Students also received their first electronic assignment on TenMarks.com and each were given a letter containing the website and their own "log in" information. Parents can also access and monitor their son or daughter's work. Please ask to see the letter for more information. This first electronic assignment is due next Friday, September 13th. Also, any late work will need to be turned in by next Friday, September 13th. After our warm-up distance problem we went over yesterday's worksheet and WS 1.5 (4 - 7). These will be turned in tomorrow. We also completed the partner check worksheet in class and students are to complete the back of it (1 - 4) for tonight's homework.

We also used the Pythagorean theorem to find the distance between two points. We also used the midpoint formula to determine the coordinates of the midpoint. We completed our day 2 notes together in class.
Homework: Complete 5 - 7 on yesterday's worksheet and complete the worksheet attached to today's notes. ReQuiz on 1.3 will be tomorrow, 9/5. Quiz on 1.5 Students received their first quiz. We talked about common errors. Those students with a score of 9 or lower with have a re-quiz this Thursday.
Today we discussed how to find distance of vertical and horizontal segments. We also were able to find the midpoint of the segment by averaging the x-coordinates and averaging the y-coordinates. First hour two students presented their projects on where in the world is geometry. Students must turn in their project by this Friday, September 6th and presentations are being done this week.
