Today we went over the surface area of a pyramid and mentioned it was similar to the formula for a cone's surface area since it used the slant height. We also mentioned that a pyramid will hold 1/3 the amount of the prism with the same area of the base and same height. We completed our notes and students have the attached worksheet to complete for homework
Today we talked about what a sphere is and the two formulas: surface area & volume. We stressed to be careful on the volume formula since the radius is cubed and not squared. Student are to complete the attached worksheet with the odd-numbered problems using the surface area formula and the even to calculate the volume. Students also completed a partner quiz on 9.1 - 9.3
Today we completed the last 3 problems from yesterday's worksheet together and collected it. We discussed the two formulas using a cone and emphasized that the surface area uses the slant height and the volume uses the height of the cone. We completed our notes and tonight's homework is to complete the att
Today we went over and collected WS 9.2 (surface area and volume of a cylinder). We discussed how to find the laterl area, surface area and volume of a prism. We completed our notes and the homework is to complete the attached worksheet (1 - 7 only).
Today we went over and collected WS 9.1. We discussed what a cylinder has in common with a prism (2 bases) and we showed how to calculate the surface area and volume of a cylinder. We completed our notes and tonight's homework is WS 9.2 (both sides).
