Homework: Complete worksheet 1.5 and be ready to present their project (due Tuesday, September 3rd). Today I was not in class, home with my son Michael. Students had another geometry with support teacher as their sub. They completed the 1.5 notes together.
Homework: WS 1.5 the front side only. Quiz 1.3 is tomorrow, August 30th. Continue to work on your project: Where in the world is geometry? Students were shown the book's website www.classzone.com and how to access it. We did 5 review problems and complete book problems 3 - 18 on page 17.
Students completed their geometric model (if not, it was taken home for homework tonight). The handout on The Geometry in the Real World Project and students were asked to get four pictures (or take 4 photos) and then identify 9 of the 11 geometric terms. These 4 pictures will be presented next Tuesday, September 3rd. Our first Students completed and turned in Worksheet 1.3 - 1.4. Then each student worked with a partner on constructing a geometric model (foam board, sticker and toothpicks) that used the vocabulary in 1.3 - 1.4. Students will answer questions about their model tomorrow.
We completed our vocabulary notes and went over real-life examples of many of the vocabulary words.
Students received Worksheet 1.3 - 1.4 which is to be completed and turned in tomorrow. We did 1 - 12 on WS 1.3 together in class. The Knowledge Search was collected today. Please turn in the syllabus signature form. Students received their books today and used them to check their description of the 12 vocabulary words. We gave a description, picture, and sometimes a symbol for each word.
Students need to have their parent sign the course syllabus. The Knowledge Search worksheet will be collected Monday, August 26th. Today students received the syllabus and we discussed it, particularly the new grading system and late work. Students need to have their parent sign the sheet stating they have seen the syllabus. You can also view it on the Geometry page, click the Geometry tab.
Students also received 12 vocabulary words that they are to describe in their own words, or draw a picture. We will discuss these tomorrow in class. First hour geometry has two KenKen puzzles to complete, while third hour geometry received their student handbooks/planners. For PBIS all math classes discussed respect. We talked about what respect and disrespect look like. We also watched a short video with SHS students and staff completing the statement, "I feel respected when...." or "I feel disrespected when...." Students also completed their own statements and shared them with a peer group.
Students had the rest of class to complete their Knowledge Search worksheet. This will be collected this Friday, August 23rd. Today for PBIS we went over hallway expectations. We used the rest of the class
period to work on the Knowledge Seach worksheet. Mrs. Severson talked with each student and answered one of the questions. Reminder that the book's website is www.classzone.com . Check out the resources! Today students in all classes did PBIS activities. Math classes did the Sharing
Game, where students received pieces of candy or fruit snacks and then shared something about themselves based on the color of the candy. Students also played teacher true/false and created 6 true/false questions about themselves. |
