Third hour exam is Friday, May 30th.
First hour students completed their final exam, while third hour finished going over the review packet.
Third hour exam is Friday, May 30th. Today we went over questions students had on the review packet.
Final exam for first hour is tomorrow, May 28th. First hour only had 20 minute class, so we did the first 10 problems on the second semester review packet.
Th Students completed their test on unit 11. Students were also given a second semester review packet for the final exam. Any missing or late work from unit 11 was collected t
First hour will have their final exam first thing on Wednesday, May 28th and 3rd hour will have their exam on Friday, May 30th. Please bring your final exam review packet to class tomorrow. Students received their area re-quizzes back today. We completed a tan colored formula sheet for surface area and volume of cylinder, prism, & sphere. Students were given a 6 question review for Unit 11 and first hour had 25 minutes of class time to work on it. Third hour went over their work on this review worksheet.
Both classes were given a Starburst candy and asked to determine its surface area. Then we asked what percent extra was used to create the flaps that hold the wrapper closed. We unwrapped the candy (and ate it - yumm!) and then measured and calculated the area of the wrapper. We found that the wrapper uses about 62% more than the surface area to make the flaps. We were surprised it was that much more! Homework: Test Unit 11 is tomorrow, May 22 and any missing work from unit 11 is due. This is the last test of the semester. Final Exams start 1 week from today. Students completed their area re-quiz. First hour completed their short notes on surface area and volume of a sphere. Third hour started to work on the WS Unit 11 review.
Homewokr: Back of the sphere notes will be turned in tomorrow. Test on Thursday, May 22 Both classes went over each question from the area quiz. Students scoring below a 14 will requiz tomorrow in class. Then first hour completed notes on surface area & volume of a cylinder, while third hour completed notes on surface area and volume of a spher
First hour we did some additional review of area since we had some students out yesterday at Keytrain. Then they completed their area quiz. Students had 25 minutes to complete their quiz & use of their green formula sheet.
Third hour also had 25 minutes to complete their quiz. We also completed our notes on surface area & volume of a cylinder. Senior exams for 3rd hour class are next Tuesday, May 20th. First hour six students had Keytrain and the rest of the class we spent reviewing surface area of rectangular prisms. We did an example of the surface area for a triangular prism.
Third hour we did a review of yesterday's lesson since many students were absent yesterday. We also did a review where we determined the area of a shaded region. Homework: WS 9.2 Day 2 (1 - 5). This is attached to the notes 9.2 (Surface area, lateral area and volume of prisms). Quiz tomorrow on area (you may use your green formula sheet). We started class with a green summary sheet that students completed from their notes (from the past 3 days). Use this green sheet as a handy go-to for quick reminders and formulas.
Afterwards, we went over any remaining questions on the area of a composite figure. Then we found that the lateral area of a box is just the area of its sides, while the surface area of the box it the total area of all the sides (top & bottom included). Then we reviewed the volume of a box as length*width*height (or the area of the base * height of the box). Quiz will be this Friday on area. |
