Enjoy the warm weekend!
Students completed their test on triangle basics. Late work was collected as well as the review packet.
Enjoy the warm weekend! We went over the last 3 problems in the review packet. We also had some additional review problems that we did in class.
HW: Test tomorrow on triangle basics. I will collect the review and any missing work. We went over the first 4 pages of the triangle basics review packet. Since we still had 3 more problems to complete. The test will be this Friday, 1/29.
HW: Complete the review packet and any missing work. Students completed a 13 question MC review of the Pythagorean theorem. We went over this in class. Students also had time to complete the first page of the triangle basics review sheet.
HW: Complete the front and back of the first page of the triangle basics review sheet. Test is this Thursday, 1/28. We reviewed 4.5 and 4.7 from our work last week. Students also did a couple problems using the Pythagorean theorem. Then we went over WS 4.7. Students are to complete the second worksheet (only do 6 of the first 12, then the rest from 13 on).
HW: Complete the worksheets on from the 4.7 notes packet. Test will be this week, Thursday or Friday. Students were given 2 pieces of spaghetti and asked to create a triangle by breaking it into 3 pieces. With the other piece of spaghetti, 3 pieces were NOT supposed to form a triangle. In each case, we compared the largest side to the sum of the other 2 pieces. We found that to form a triangle the sum of the 2 smaller pieces must be GREATER than the longest piece.
We completed our 4.7 notes and students had 10 minutes to complete WS 4.7. HW: WS 4.7, also please turn in the 4 graphing problems where you classified the triangle. We went over the last 2 pages from WS Pythagorean theorem (1 - 16 should be done). This will be collected tomorrow. We also went over any questions from WS 4.5. This was collected.
HW: Complete WS Pythagorean theorem (1 - 16 should be done) and WS with 4 grids asking to classify the triangles if you have not finished them. Students completed a 2 question warm-up to start class. We went over these together and asked about any other questions with the Pythagorean theorem. Students then completed their quiz 4.4. They had the rest of class to work on the 4 problems which involved graphing the triangle and categorizing it.
We also went over the set up for 1 - 6 on yesterday's homework. HW: Complete 7 - 12 from yesterday's WS Pythagorean Theorem and complete the handout (4 problems) on graphing the triangle and categorizing it. Today we used the Pythagorean theorem to determine if a triangle was acute, right or obtuse.
We completed our notes for section 4.5. HW: Complete the attached worksheet and 1-6 on the Pythgorean theorem review worksheet. Quiz tomorrow on Pythagorean theorem. Curious about Pythagoras, check out some thoughts by Vi Hart. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1E7I7_r3Cw We went over the application problems from the 4.4 packet. We also discussed how the screen size of an electronic device, such as a TV, phone, tablet, is usually the measure of the diagonal of the screen. We can calculate this my using the Pythagorean theorem. Students had the rest of class to complete the 4.4 packet.
HW: The 3 worksheets in the 4.4 packet should be completed by Tuesday, 1/19. |
