HW: Complete both packets
We completed our 2 or 3 other examples on composite areas. Then students had about 30 minutes to work on completing the composite area packet and their sheet from yesterday.
HW: Complete both packets Students completed the first page formula sheet on areas of different shapes. Then we completed the first 5 examples together in class.
We used a TI-Nspire animation to show how the formulas of area of a triangle and trapezoid are related to the area of a parallelogram. We also saw how the area of a parallelogram related to the area of a rectangle with the same base and height. We applied these formula (as well as our area of circle = pi*r^2) to find the area of a composite figure or a a shaded region. Students turned in any missing work, their chapter 11 practice test and their circle picture project. Students also completed their test on circles.
HW: Be nice to your Mom. :) Students received their quizzes back from yesterday. We went over all the problems. Students had 30 - 35 minutes to work on the WS practice test, their circle project or any missing work from chapter 11.
HW: Test on chapter 11 (circles) is tomorrow. Your circle picture project is due, as well as the practice test and any missing work from 11.1 - 11.7. Study tonight. :) To start the day, we completed an 11 question review on inscribed angles. Then students completed their quiz 11.5 - 11.7. Then they received a practice test for chapter 11 (circles). We will go over this tomorrow. Students had about 15 -20 minutes to work on the practice test, their circle project or any missing work from the circles unit.
HW: WS practice test for chapter 11, circle picture is due 5/8 and test on 5/8. We went over 8 problems from the 11.7 Day 1 worksheet. This was collected. Then we discussed the draw a circle picture project that is due this Friday. Students had 20 minutes of class time to work on their design or work on WS 11.7 day 2.
HW: Complete WS 11.7 day 2. Quiz 11.5& 11.7 is tomorrow. Use the link for review http://www.brightstorm.com/math/geometry/circles/inscribed-angles/ Have your design ready to draw on graph paper. Test is this Friday and any late work is due then. We completed our notes on writing the equation of a circle. We found that we could use the Pythagorean theorem to write the equation of a circle. If we were given an equation of a circle we were able to graph it.
