HW: WS 4.4 & another worksheet should be completed (both sides of it)
Students watched a 20 minute DVD on the Pythagorean theorem. Since I was at a district meeting, students had time to work together on their 4.4 packets.
HW: WS 4.4 & another worksheet should be completed (both sides of it) We completed our notes on the Pythagorean Theorem and we also went through additional video examples of the Pythagorean Theorem. We looked at the problem of the largest pole that could fit into a semi-trailer truck with given dimensions. We needed to use the Pythagorean Theorem twice.

We went over the review of 4.1 - 4.3. This was collected with WS 4.3 A/B. Then students completed the quiz 4.1 - 4.3. During the last 10 minutes we started our notes on the Pythagorean theorem. We watched a short video that discussed the parts of a right triangle and how to use the Pythagorean theorem. We completed our first page of notes (4.4).
HW: None if you are caught up on your work. :) Students used the SmartBoard to classify given triangles by their sides or angles. Then we went over WS 4.3A and students had time to complete WS 4.3B in class. We also went over that before students left.
HW: Please complete the WS Review 4.1 - 4.3. Quiz tomorrow over 4.1 - 4.3. We went over WS 4.2 day 2 in class, completing about half of the problems. We collected the 3 worksheets from this week: Dinky King, 4.2 triangles day 1 and WS 4.2 triangles day 2. We also watched a Khan Academy video on isosceles triangles. This is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UISwx2Mr4c
Lastly, we completed our notes from 4.3 on isosceles triangles. We used the fact that the sum of the 3 angles in a triangle is 180 degrees in order to find the value of x. Students had 22 minutes to work on the second attached WS (Triangles II).
HW: Complete both worksheets in the 4.2 packet We checked over the rest of WS Dinky King in class. Students were also given a triangle and asked to classify it by its sides and angles. Then we deconstructed the triangle by tearing apart the 3 angles and then making each of the 3 angles adjacent to each other. We saw that the 3 angles formed a straight angle which is 180 degrees. So the sum of the angles of a triangle is 180 degrees. We also looked at the exterior angle theorem and completed our 4.2 notes.

Students started by reviewing angle relationships with the WS Dinky King. We went over the first 2 platforms in class. The students created 2 foldables: one for classifying a triangle by its sides and the other for classifying a triangle by its angles. We completed 7 examples together in class. HW: Students are to complete 1 - 7 on classifying triangles and also complete the WS Dinky King. |
