HW: Study for finals!
Students had the opportunity to ask questions about their final exam packets, which they received last Friday. Most students worked individually. We also went over questions from the test on triangles.
HW: Study for finals! Students turned in their practice test on triangles. We quickly answered any questions from the practice test. Students had at least 40 minutes to complete the Unit 5 test.
HW: Complete the final exam review packet. Second hour received their quizzes back on Pythagorean theorem. Students were given a practice test on triangles and most worked well in class on it. I monitored their work and answered individual questions.
HW: Complete the WS Practice Test and any missing work from unit 5. Test is Monday, 12/15. Today we went over questions from yesterday's worksheet. We also completed 15 - 18 together on Pythagroean triples. Then we went through a short video which showed us how the Pythagorean theorem could be proved using the areas of squares. We also found it useful to find the length of the longest pole that would fit in a semi (trailer truck).
Second hour completed our notes for 4.5 on the converse of the Pythagorean theorem and also completed their partner quiz. Third hour will do this tomorrow. HW: Turn in any missing work from chapter 4. Test is Monday on 4.1 - 4.5. Curious about Pythagoras, check out some thoughts by Vi Hart. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1E7I7_r3Cw We looked at how screen sizes are measure for televisions and other electronic devices, which measures the diagonal of the rectangle of its screen. To find this measurement we can use the Pythagorean theorem. We also saw other applications in softball, a brace in a closet, and finding the distance between 2 points. We completed our application notes in class.

Students received their quizzes back (2nd hour only) and we went over questions, especially the last page. Then we completed our notes on the parts of a right triangle and the Pythagorean Theorem.

Students had the last 20 minutes to complete their quiz.
HW: Turn in any missing work from chapter 4 We started with a review problem from 4.2, find the value of a variable and the angle in a triangle. We also went over about 5 problems from WS 4.2 (day 2, was worked on with the sub on 12/3). This was completed and collected. WS 4.3 was also collected today. Students were given a short review WS 4.1 - 4.3 to complete by Monday.
HW: Complete any missing work from chapter 4, the review WS 4.1 - 4.3 and be ready for Quiz 4.1 - 4.3 which is Monday, 12/8. We started class by reviewing the vocabulary on classifying triangles by its sides and angles. Then students received their Unit 4 tests back and completed the short reflection on their preparation and work. Lastly, we completed our notes from 4.3 on isosceles triangles.

Students used class time to complete the second worksheet in the 4.2 packet. This involved solving for a variable using the triangle sum theorem.
HW: Both 4.2 worksheets in the packet should be completed. |
