We completed the first page of today's notes on trigonometric ratios. HW: Be ready for tomorrow's summative assessment (test) tomorrow on special triangles (STD 11) We played 2 Kahoot review games where students were asked to find the missing side of a special right triangle (45-45-90 or 30-60-90). Then students had about 15 minutes to complete today's review worksheet of 10.2- 10.3.
HW: Complete today's WS and turn in your 10.2 and 10.3 packets We started by completing an 8 question review of 45 - 45 - 90 triangles using Kahoot. We went over the day 1 10.3 assignment. Then students had the rest of class to complete day attached day 2 assignment.
HW: complete day attached day 2 10.3 assignment Today we looked at a second special triangle, called a 30-60-90 triangle. This is a right scalene where the hypotenuse = 2* short leg (shorty) and the longer leg = short leg*square root 3. We completed all our class notes and students were given a short flash card quiz over 45-45-90 triangles.

They were asked to find the missing sides. We also went over the day 1 assignment from yesterday and quickly completed the last 4 problems for our notes today. Students had about 20 - 25 minutes to complete the day 2 homework assignment.
HW: Complete the attached WS Day 2 assignment Students were given a (square) piece of paper and measure the consecutive sides to confirm it was a square. Then they folded it corner to corner to create a right isosceles triangle. We measured the length of the hypotenuse and also calculated it by using the Pythagorean theorem. Then we looked at the ratio of the hypotenuse to the leg and found it was about 1.41. We used GeoGebra to examine more 45-45-90 triangles and calculated the ratio of the hypotenuse to the leg and again found it was about 1.41. We looked at the general case of a right isosceles triangle and by using the Pythagorean theorem, we saw that the hypotenuse = leg*square root of 2. We completed our notes on section 10.2.

We completed a Kahoot review of 17 questions that involved simplifying and multiplying radicals. The 3 worksheets that we worked on this week were collected.
HW: Enjoy your Spring Break! Students worked in class on the day 3 worksheet which involved multiplying and simplifying radicals. We also reviewed the Pythagorean theorem with radicals.
HW: Complete today's worksheet (both sides). We reviewed using the FACTOR feature on the TI-Nspire to help us simplify radicals. We went through about 10 problems together and students had the remaining class time to complete yesterday's worksheet and today worksheet on simplifying radicals.
HW: Complete both worksheets. Do not simply write the decimal approximation, unless the value is exact. Students used the TI-Nspire to work on simplifying radicals. We showed how to use the factor feature of the calculator (hit MENU, then Number, then FACTOR). This helped us simplify radicals with larger radicands.
Students also received their test back from last week on similarity. Students had 20 minutes of the time in class to work using the calculators.
