Enjoy your winter break!
We used the class period to play a game of Bingo where students needed to answer questions from topics covered in first semester. We had a number of winners.

Students turned in missing work and completed their last test of the semester.
Students completed a 5 question warm-up and we went over it in class. We also reviewed how to find the value of a function's inverse at a point given a graph or a table. Students were able to check their review with the answer key, posted in the Stream of your google classroom. During the last 20 minutes we took questions as a class. Students were also encouraged to complete the DE Quiz on Inverse Functions.
HW: Complete any missing work. Last test of the semester (#6) is tomorrow, 12/18. Students had the whole class period to work on 3 items: complete their DE Quiz on Inverse Functions, work on the study guide for test 6 & complete any missing homework such as desmos: practice with inverses.
HW: Complete the study guide for test 6 and any missing work. Last test is Wednesday, 12/18. We played a 19 question Kahoot, with some holiday trivia too, that reviewed what we learned about inverse functions this week (algebraically and graphically). Then students had the last 10 minutes to start on their DE Quiz on Inverse Functions. Students also received a study for test 6, the last test of the semester. Test 6 will be on 12/18.
HW: Complete the DE Quiz Inverse Functions, complete the Desmos activity Practice with Inverses & any missing work. Students started class with a 12 question Kahoot that reviewed composition of functions.
Then we completed page 3. We showed how composing two functions and if they return a value of x, then those functions are inverses of each other. Quiz on Inverse Functions is tomorrow Students completed a 10 question entrance slip on function operations and compositions. We checked this in class. Then we completed 4 examples from the third page of our notes from yesterday. We saw that we could verify if two given functions are inverses by checking to see if both compositions have a value of x.
During the last 10 minutes students started the Desmos activity: Practice with Inverses. HW: Complete the Desmos activity: Practice with Inverses. From our work with desmos, students looked at composite functions graphically, and looked at the types of functions that when composed created the line y = x. We saw that the inverse switches (reverses) the order of the coordinates in the original function. We also could see that the inverse function undoes the original function. We used this idea to create the inverse function. Then we looked at these graphically using desmos. We saw that the function and its inverse are reflections over the line y= x. We also showed how to find a function's inverse algebraically by using the switch and solve method.

Students completed a 10 question review on function operations & composition. We checked this in class as well as WS 6.6 Test Prep. The worksheet was collected. This lead us into our investigation (using desmos) of composite functions and what students noticed from the graphs. We completed about half of the desmos activity: Fun with Inverse Functions.
HW: Complete desmos activity: Fun with Inverse Functions, slides 1 - 12. Students had 20 minutes to work on the review worksheet- function composition. We checked 10 of the 20 problems in class. Students had the rest of class to work on the Quiz with a partner.
HW: Complete WS Function Composition & the back do 1 - 5. |
