HW: Complete the back side of Test Prep 5.1 & complete WS Factors & Zeros.
Students completed Test Prep 5.1 as a warm-up and we checked it in class. We also played a Kahoot game to review operations with polynomials. Then we completed a review of the box method and looked at how we could factor quartic trinomials that were "quadratic" like. We completed the first side of our notes.

Students completed 5 warm-up questions on WS 5.1 Test Prep. We checked these in class. We also completed the also 4 examples on writing a polynomial equation in standard form given its zeros. We went over questions from WS 5.1 and WS Made in the Shade. Both of these were collected.

We went over questions from the front side of WS 5.1. Then we completed 8 examples on how to find the zeros of a polynomial, first in factored form. Then using our factoring skills to rewrite the polynomial in factored form, we determined its zeros. We also confirmed our work, by graphing the original polynomial and then looking at its x-intercepts. These are the real zeros!

Students completed the 5.1 Additional Vocab Support sheet in class which reviewed how to classify a polynomial by its degree and number of terms. We used completed on notes (8 examples) on adding, subtracting, and multiplying polynomials. We also classified the polynomial by the degrees and the number of terms.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving! IN 7th hour, the quiz from last Friday was passed back. Students also received their math recommendations today. These will be re-examined in February/March.
Students were able to check their review from Friday with the answer key on their google classroom (Stream tab). We went over questions from the review as well as questions from the quiz last Friday. HW: Complete Entrance Slip #2 (both sides) and any missing work - test #5 is tomorrow, 11/20. Students completed their Quiz 7 on solving quadratics with complex solutions. Students also received a review guide for their upcoming test on Tuesday, 11/20.
HW: Complete the Review Guide and any missing work. We went over the back side of WS Review of Complex Numbers and it was collected. Students were put into 2 teams and we played a review game using Jeopardy.
2nd hour received WS Entrance Slip #2. This is due on Monday, 11/19. HW: Complete any missing work. Quiz 7: Solving Quadratics with Complex Numbers is tomorrow, 11/16. Our test is next Tuesday, 11/20. Students had the class time to work on the discovery education quiz on complex numbers. Students were also reminded to complete the google classroom quiz on complex numbers (assigned last Friday). Lastly, students were to check their homework (WS Kuta Solving Quadratics with Imaginary Solutions) with the answer key posted in their google classroom. I came around to answer questions as students worked.
HW: Complete the back side (9 problems) on WS Reivew of Complex Numbers. The front side was completed on Monday in class. We completed our notes on using the quadratic formula to solve quadratic equations. When the discriminant was negative, we used complex numbers for our solutions. We showed how to check our answers by using the store feature on the TI-Nspire. Then we played a 16 question Kahoot game that reviewed operations with complex numbers.
