Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Students completed test #5. Those students who want to retake should start by completing missing work in listed in Infinite Campus in standard 3 (parents received emails on 11/24). Retakes should be done by December 16th. Our last test will probably be on December 17th or 18th.

Students had time to look over their Friday quizzes and complete the review they received on Friday. Solutions are posted in the Stream of your google classroom. We used the last 20 minutes of class to go over common questions on the review. We also reviewed how to solve by graphing with the TI-Nspire graphing calculators.
HW: Complete any missing work, including the DE Quiz Radical Equations. Test #5 (operations with radicals and equations) is tomorrow, 11/26. At the beginning of class we played a 10 question Kahoot on solving radical equations. During the last 15 - 20 minutes, students worked in pairs on the radical equations quiz. Students also picked up a review for test #5.
HW: Complete the review for test #5, which is on 11/26. We went over #3 from yesterday's homework. We showed how to solve the quadratic equation by factoring and by using the quadratic formula. This was collected. Students were given about 15 minutes to work on their DE Radical Equations Quiz. For the last part of class we divided into 3 or 4 teams and played Jeopardy, which reviewed operations with radicals and solving radical equations. (Third hour will play tomorrow.)
HW: Complete the DE Radical Equations Quiz. Your paper quiz on solving radical equations is tomorrow, 11/22. Students started with 5 true/false questions. We focused on being able to determine if a given value was a solution to the equation. Students then completed 5 radical equations & we checked these in class. We summarized our methods and lastly showed how to solve by graphing using the TI-Nspire calculators. We completed 6 - 10 by graphing.
HW: Complete the WS Solving Radical Equations Algebraically (do both sides 1 - 8) We completed the back side of our notes from yesterday. Then we checked the back side of yesterday's work. We showed how to graph the last two problems using desmos.com.
HW: Complete the Person Puzzle - Stephen Hawking & Complete the Google Quiz in your google classroom We looked at how to solve radical equations by following a 4 step process. First, isolate the variable and then eliminating the root by raising each side to the index power. Thirdly, solve a simple algebraic equation, you may need to solve a quadratic by factoring or quadratic formula. With the algebraic method, it may produce extraneous solutions, so one must check when using the algebraic method as the last step.
Friday's quizzes were returned. Students should complete the problems that were left blank and correct errors. Make corrections on your quiz! Students worked most of the class period with a partner on a problem for 2 - 3 minutes. Then they rotated partners and problems, completing about 10 questions on radical operations. Students had the last 5 - 7 minutes to work on their google classroom quiz on applying radicals.
HW: Complete the google classroom quiz on applying radicals We went over questions on WS 6.2 & then completed 28 - 30 and 32 together. This was collected. Then we completed our notes on rational exponents, showing how to convert between exponential form and radical form and vice versa. Students also completed the front side (1 - 11) of the WS 6.4 vocab support, which we also checked in class.

Quiz tomorrow on operations with radicals. Students completed the 10 question quarter sheet & we went over it in class. We checked work on the Person Puzzle - Desmond Tutu, and collected it. Students had the last 20 minutes to work on WS 6.2.
