HW: DE Quiz Function Operations, the Stan Lee Person Puzzle, & WS 6.6. Quiz tomorrow on Function Operations & Composition.
Due to yearbook pictures, we had an in class work day where students completed a 10 question Discovery Education quiz and the Stan Lee Person Puzzle. Students were also encouraged to revisit or complete the Lumen Learning link that we used the day before (it's in your google classroom). WS 6.6 should be completed.

We used the first half of class to complete our notes from Monday. We looked at how the order of multiple discounts (percentage and flat rate deduction) could give different outputs. For the best deal, always take the percentage off first and then the flat rate deduction second. We also saw that for multiple percent discounts, the order does not matter as it will turn out to be the same price. Also, the sum of those discounts is always greater than the two successive percent discounts. For example, a 25% discount followed by a 10% discount is less than a 35% discount.
The second half of class students worked on a review of function operations & composition using Lumen Learning. The link is in the google classroom and students are to go through the first full page and then click next for the second page (which finds composite functions using tables and graphs). on applications of composite functions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VI2kJp69jNg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oufbct8TgA4 HW: Complete WS 6.6 & the Lumen Learning (2 pages) Students worked on 1 - 12 of Practice: Function Operations & Compositions. Each student was given a target problem to start with and then were asked to check with the other student in the class that had the same problem. We checked this in class.
Together we did 19 -27, which looked at composite functions using tables and graphs. HW: Complete the rest of Practice: Function Operations & Compositions and complete the front side of WS 6.6. We started our notes on combining functions using operations addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We looked at how to compose two functions and that the order of the composition matters. We showed that we could check our answers by using the desmos.com.
