HW: Complete WS 4.7.
Students received their Friday quiz back. We reviewed the quadratic formula, stressing getting the equation in the form ax2 + bx + c = 0. Students worked in groups of 3 or 4 people on WS 4.7. We went over #6 & #8 together. Test #3 will be next Wednesday, 10/23.

We went over the 3 quadratic formula problems on the last page of the discriminant & quadratic formula packet. Then we completed pages 2 & 3 together of the packet. Students had the last 12 - 15 minutes to complete Quiz #6 on the quadratic formula.
HW: Complete any missing work & complete the discriminant & quadratic formula packet. Students did not have questions on the homework with quadratic formula and the homework from yesterday was collected.
Students used about 45 minutes to work on the Desmos activity: discriminant and the quadratic formula. Students were able to see what happened with the graph as they adjusted the standard form values of a, b, and c. Students were encouraged to make connections and conjectures about the relationship between the discriminant and the number of roots on the graph. We completed #4 and #6 together on the Solving Using the Quadratic Formula worksheet. We also showed how to check our answer by using the STO (store) feature on the calculator.
HW: Complete Solving Using the Quadratic Formula worksheet. Students were given the first 10 - 12 minutes of class to work on a Discovery Education Quadratics Quiz. This reviewed some concepts from test #1 & 2. We also checked over questions on 5 - 10 from the Quadratic Functions worksheet from yesterday. Then we worked on our quadratic formula notes. We completed 4 examples together. We also showed how to get decimal estimates using the TI-Nspire calculators.

We did 5 examples together and students completed 12 problems on their own. We checked these in class. Then we completed #7 and #8 together from yesterday's person puzzle. This was collected. Enjoy the weekend! Students used the most of the class to work on the review guide with their tablemates. During the last 10 - 15 minutes, we went over problems from the last page two pages. Solutions are posted in the Stream of their google classroom.
HW: Complete the review packet and any missing work. Test is Friday, 10/4. Students were given the first 5 minutes to complete the last page (or any work) from yesterday's review packet. We went over the last page and collected the packet at the end of class.
Students worked in groups of 4 making revisions to their Quiz #5. This was turned in. Students used the rest of class to work on the review guide with their tablemates. HW: Complete at least 2 of the 4 pages on the review packet. Test is Friday, 10/4. Students worked on a review of solving quadratic equation by the square root method. We checked the first page together. Students had about 15 -20 minutes of work time on the packet.
We also did two of the quadratics that would be solved by factoring and the ZPP. Students used the last 15 - 17 minutes to work on their Quiz 5 with a partner. Students will have 10 minutes to complete it tomorrow in class. HW: Complete the 4 page review packet on graphing & solving quadratic equations. Test is this Friday. |
