Complete WS 3.3 but skip #5. HW. Please watch these 2 videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q81gafPM5y8 We went through 3 examples in class the used the first derivative test to find local extrema and we also used the first derivative to determine where a function is increasing or decreasing. We used all of this information to make a graph of the original function.
Students had the last 10 minutes to complete their quiz 3.1 - 3.2. Watch the two links below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoYQCWbeGnUhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJb_Qk0O5a0HW: Complete #2 and #4 and Part 3 on WS 3.3A and 1 - 3 on WS 3.3 Mathboat (multiple choice) We started with a 4 question review of MVT and Rolle's Theorem (section 3.2). Then we went over our notes on the first derivative test (section 3.3). We completed all the notes except for the last example. Students had the last 20 minutes to complete the quiz 3.1 - 3.2.
HW: Start book assignment 3.3 (through #45) or do all of 3.3 webassign (it is broken into 2 days) Today we went over WS 3.1 (from 12/3) and we also discussed questions from the 3.1 assignment. Students also received their Quiz 3.1 (critical points only) back.
Students were given a final handout on MVT and we did the first page (1 - 3) together. Students are to complete problems 4 and 5 and finish the book assignment for 3.2. HW: Complete all of 3.2 and be ready for quiz 3.1 - 3.2 on Monday, 12/8. Then we discussed Rolle's Theorem and the Mean Value Theorem. We completed our notes and 4 examples.
