HW: Complete any missing work. Enjoy Homecoming!
We used the first 20 minutes to review graphing quadratics in factored form ( did 1, 2 and 8 - 10 on the warm-up sheet). We went over both graphs and 1 equation writing problems. Students used the last half of class for the 4 problem quiz.

Students completed 4 factoring problems and 2 on writing the equation in intercept form given a graph. We checked these in class. We also discussed the most commonly missed questions from the Google Quiz (from last week). Students had the rest of class to complete any of the 3 items from yesterday (2 Desmos activities and the graphing in factored form packet).
Students received their quizzes back. HW: Complete any missing work. Quiz over intercept (factored) form is tomorrow. We started by checking the 12 graphs and equations match up from yesterday. We also checked the 3 graphs (4 - 6) and 3 equations (10 - 12) from Monday's worksheet. Then students made revisions to their quizzes from yesterday and returned them. Students used the rest of class to work on any one of these 3 items: complete the graphing in factored form packet (4 pages), Desmos: Angry Birds (from yesterday) or Desmos: Graphing Parabolas in Factored Form (today's).
HW: Complete at least 2 of the above 3 items. You will have some time in class tomorrow to work on the rest. Students completed a 12 question graph and (factored form) equation match. Then we checked the first three graphs of yesterday's homework. Then we looked at how to write the equation of a quadratic function in factored form given a graph with two x-intercepts (the p and q) and another point on the parabola (x, y). We used the three given points to determine the value of "a". We completed 3 of these examples together (7 - 9 on their sheet).

HW: Complete 10 - 12 on your graphing in intercept form worksheet & complete the Desmos activity: Angry Birds Factored Form Quadratics. Students completed the front page which reviewed key features about graphs of quadratics. Then we completed example 1 on page 3 of our notes, which reviewed graphing in vertex form.
Then we spent more time on intercept (or factored) form of a quadratic. Students received their notes on google classroom and we 5 examples (2 had graphs) together. We were reminded that a y-intercept can be found by letting x = 0. Students were assigned to put a problem up on the board, so we checked these 14 problems together in class. Then they worked on a Quiz in google classroom. We collected the Circuit Training - factoring when a ~1. Any remaining time was to work on the Circuit Training - factor by grouping.
HW: Complete the WS Circuit Training - grouping and the Quiz in google classroom. Enjoy the weekend and get ready for Homecoming Week! Students completed the 5 question half-sheet warm-up which was checked in class. We also completed problems 1 & 3 on WS 4-4 Test Prep.
We saw how the grouping method (given 4 terms) is just a variation of the box method. If students do not wish to use the box method, we used the idea of grouping the first 2 terms together & then the last 2 together and taking out the GCF of each group. This should give a common group to factor out. We completed 3 examples together on WS 4-4 Enrichment. Quiz #2 on factoring methods will be tomorrow, 9/6. Students completed about 5 test prep questions (WS 4-4 Test Prep) that we checked together in class, which used factoring. Then we completed the back page of their notes, completing 6 examples together. Then we collected the circuit training factoring worksheet a = 1.

Those wishing to retake must complete the retake process (sheet in your google classroom) by 9/25.
We went over factoring methods of GCF, difference of squares, perfect square, simple trinomials where a = 1. Students have their notes in google classroom. We also completed the first couple of problems on the Circuit Training Worksheet.
