HW: Complete the google classroom quiz on applying radicals & do the right column of WS 6-4 (handed out yesterday). Paper quiz is tomorrow on operations with radicals.
Students worked most of the class period with a partner on a problem for 2 - 3 minutes. Then they rotated partners and problems, completing about 10 questions on radical operations. Students had the last 5 - 7 minutes to work on their google classroom quiz on applying radicals.

We went over questions on the radical & complex number review puzzle. This was collected. Then we completed our notes on rational exponents, showing how to convert between exponential form and radical form and vice versa. Students also completed the front side of the WS 6.4 vocab support, which we also checked in class.

We went over any remaining questions on WS 6.2 (28 - 34) and also went over questions from the front side of WS 6.3. Then we looked at how to rationalize a fraction with a radical binomial in the denominator. We multiplied by a "fancy" #1 by using the conjugate of the denominator. We worked on 14 - 16 & 21 together in class. Students had the last 20 minutes to complete the other 5 problems and start on the complex number/radical review (1 - 15).

We went over WS 6.2 (1 - 27) and then students had time to complete the back side. We did more work on adding and subtracting radical expressions with WS 6-3. We completed about 5 - 6 problems together.
While students were working, I talked with students individually about their math recommendation for next school year. HW: Complete WS 6.2 & the front side of WS 6.3 We completed the front side of our notes on radicals, simplifying radicals, as well as adding and subtracting radicals. We also worked with multiplying radicals using conjugates.

Retakes for test #3 should be completed by tomorrow, 11/6. We used the first 10 - 12 minutes to complete our Jeopardy game. Students were able to check the work they did on the review for Test #4 with the answers posted in the Stream of their google classroom. During the last 15 minutes we went over common questions.
HW: Complete the DE Quizzes (2 of them and any 2nd attempts) and missing work. Test #4 on Operations with Complex Numbers is tomorrow, 11/5. All students received a review for their test on Tuesday, 11/5 on complex numbers. We played Jeopardy as part of their review, dividing the class into two teams. Both classes will finish their game on Monday, 11/4.
Students were encouraged to complete their DE Quizzes: Complex Numbers and Complex Numbers with Equations, as well as any other missing work. HW: Complete the review by Monday, 11/4. Test #4 is Tuesday, 11/5. Retake for Test #3 must be done by 11/6. |
