Students complete WS 4.6 Test Prep in class and we went over the 7 questions. We completed the front side of our notes on quadratic formula.

Students started with a review of factoring (7 problems) and 2-3 review problems on completing the square. Students used the last 5 - 15 minutes to complete their quiz from last Friday. Students who were absent made arrangements to take the quiz.
HW: Complete the book assignment 4.6: page 237 - 240 15 - 23, 31 - 43, 53 - 55, 63, 65, 87 - 89 We finished our notes on completing the square method for solving a quadratic equation. We saw that if the solutions were rational numbers (written as a fraction) then the equation could have been solved by factoring. We looked at various problem and found that if we could create a perfect square with the variable side we could use the square root property to solve the equation. We needed to have a 1x^2 and then get the proper c value by taking half of b and then squaring it.

Bring your book to class on Tuesday, as you will have time to complete the rest of book assignment 4.6. Students used the square root method to solve a quadratic that was already a perfect square. Students were also able to solve using the factoring method, once the equation was made = 0. We discussed that the graphing method was another alternative.
Then we looked at the relationship between the factor the "b" value and the "c" value and found that to make a perfect square of the trinomial 1x^2 + bx +c then c = (b/2)^2. HW: Quiz tomorrow on 4.4 - 4.5 (factoring methods and solving a quadratic by factoring). You can try to do the first couple problems listed for homework in today's handout. Students completed 2 quadratic equations using the graphing method. We also addressed questions using www.desmos.com. We checked the WS 4.4 test prep side.
HW: complete both sides of WS. 4.4 Test prep and WS 4.5 Practice. We did an in class review on factoring completely. Students had time to work on WS 4.4 Test Prep and then we used the TI-Nspire calculators to solve 4 different problems by graphing them.
HW: Complete the back side of WS 4.5 and WS 4.4 Test Prep Use https://www.desmos.com/ for a graphing calculator if you do not have one. We went over WS 4.2 (additional vocab support & make a plan) in class. We also did 4 problems to review the box or guess method for factoring. We also did 2 examples of factoring by grouping. Then we went over how to solve a quadratic equation by factoring. Once the equation is equal to zero, we used our factoring skills and the zero product property to solve a quadratic equation. We completed 3 examples in class.
