We went over what a half-life is and how it is written. We looked at 2 formulas that are examples of exponential growth (Pe^(rt)) and decay (half-life). We worked through 3 questions on each one.

Students completed the Test Prep 7.1 and their Quiz 7.1. Tomorrow, please turn in WS 7.1 Practice.
We went over the last 2 pages in the 7.1 packet, checking yesterday’s homework. Students had about 15 - 20 minutes to work on WS 7.1. This is due on Monday, 2/12.
HW: Complete WS 7.1 both sides. Quiz 7.1 is ‘Monday, 2/12 We completed most of our notes on exponential growth and decay. We identified the "a" and "b" values and the equation representing the real-life situation. Then we showed how to use the graphing calculator (or desmos.com) to solve the equation by graphing. We also demonstrated how to use a guess and check technique.

We asked the question would you rather...A) have a million dollars or B) a penny and have the value double every day for a month. We had each side present their case (for option A or B). Then we looked at the graph of y = 2^x and created other similar graphs by changing the base. Students asked about using a base of 0, 1, and decimals (such as 0.5 and 1.5). Students received a notes packet that summarized today's findings from our investigation with the graphing calculator.
HW: Complete the attached worksheet on Drug Filtering. Students completed the non-graphing portion of their test. Then they took the pre-test on exponential growth and decay.
Students turned in their study guides. No homework! Students completed the calculator portion of the test today. They will complete the non-calculator portion on Monday, 2/5.
We went over most of the study guide in class today. To get the solutions to the study guide click the Honors Algebra 3-4 tab.
HW: Turn in the study guide and any missing work. Test 6.5 - 6.8 is tomorrow, 2/2. |
