HW: Complete both sides of WS 5.6.
We went over questions 20, 32, 34, 35, 36, and 44 from the book assignment 5.6. Students had the last 20 minutes of class to work on WS 5.6.

We looked at the real zeros of a polynomial function (the x-intercepts) and we also found that we could have complex zeros from our quadratic factors. We used factoring as a technique to get the factors and then used the zero product property. We reviewed GCF and the grouping method. If the polynomial could not be factored we found the real zeros on the TI-Nspire calculators and then used synthetic division to find the complex zeros. We completed 9 examples together.
Homework: Page 322 - 3248, 9, 14, 16 - 21, 23, 32 - 36, 41- 44, 50 - 52; use www.desmos.com if you don't have a graphing calculator. Today we went over WS 5.4 and collected it. Students were given a final WS on synthetic division, which most students completed in class. Lastly, we played a short review game.
HW: WS on synthetic division, 1 - 16 After having no school for 3 days due to extreme cold, we reviewed our work on long division of polynomials. We also reviewed synthetic division and what it means to be a factor. Students completed about 70% of the WS 5.4.
We also went over #42 from the 5.4 book assignment. That was collected today. HW: Complete both sides of WS 5.4. We used long division and synthetic division to divide polynomials. If there is no remainder, then the dividend is a factor of the original.
