Students were asked to create the graph of the square root function and cube root function. We found that the domain and range of the square root function were all reals greater than or equal to zero. This put our graph in the first quadrant and it looked like half of a sideways parabola. The cube root function had a domain and range of all real numbers and was in quadrants I and III, looking like a stretched out "S". We went over the 3 basic transformations: translations, vertical stretch/compression, and reflection of each axis.
