I worked with each table and answered questions. (No need to worry about upper or lower sums). HW: Turn in homework from weeks 5 - 9 and test on Monday, chapter 4. We completed review questions from 4.4 - 4.6. Students received their Quiz 4.5 back and we also went over 3 questions.
Students voted for the chapter 4 test to be Monday, 3/13. HW: Complete the review packet (first page front & back and thereafter as needed). Students took about the first 20 minutes to complete Quiz 4.5. Then we looked at how we can use trapezoids to approximate the value of a definite integral. This is usually used when there is a data table. We also showed how we can construct a table if we are given a function. We worked through the set up of 5 problems together.
Students were also given a review packet for the test 4.1 - 4.6. Use the links below for review or practice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z6JRFvjkpc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGeCLfLaKMw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0irpcGGhEN0 HW: Complete the worksheets on the trapezoid rule and start on the review packet, test 4.1 - 4.6, which will be this Friday or Monday, 3/13. Students were given 4 review problems on u-substitution methods. We went over these in class. Students also had the opportunity to complete the scavenger hunt that was started yesterday. During the last 10 minutes we checked the WS Antidifferentiation by Substitution 1 - 6.
HW: Complete the 10 MC questions in WS Antidifferentiation by Substitution & quiz 4.5 is tomorrow. Please watch this video on using the trapezoidal rule. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGeCLfLaKMw Students received their Quiz 4.4 FTC graphically back. We went over the back page as many students forgot to find the antiderivative when using the FTC.
Then we reviewed the u-substitution method with 3 examples. Students worked with a partner on the u-substitution scavenger hunt. HW: Quiz 4.5 (u-substitution method of integration) is tomorrow, March 7th, at the end of class. Complete 1 - 6 on the u-sub review given out at the end of class. We did a quick review of FTC graphically, by playing an 8 question Kahoot game. We also went over 4 & 5 on WS Integration by Substitution. Students had 20 minutes to complete their Quiz 4.4 FTC Graphically.
Lastly, we set up #12 on the AP MC FTC 1 - 19 packet. HW: Complete the second WS (Kuta) Integration with Substitution & WS #3 Graphical Analysis using FTC (do 1 & 3). We started by reviewing the MVT for integrals. We used an animation to check our work on #1 from yesterday. We also did #2 and #6 together (showing #6 on the animation). We also tried to visually predict the average value of the function on [a, b] and checked it with the animation.
Then we nearly completed our 4.5 notes on the u-substitution method. The idea behind this method is to take a complicated problem to integrate and rewrite it as a simpler problem.
