Student received their tests back from last Monday. We went over common errors (as a way to review for the final). Students had the last 20 - 25 minutes to complete the quiz 6.1 - 6.3. Students were allowed to work with 1 partner.
HW: Complete your review packet. Final exam is Thursday, 12/17 for third hour and Friday, 12/18 for 7th hour. Students worked on WS Test Prep 6.2/6.3 in class today for 30 minutes. We went over answers on both sides. Students are to complete the rest of book assignment 6.4 by Monday.
HW: Page 387 - 388 78 - 86 even, 97, 102 - 108, 114 & Quiz 6.1 - 6.3 on Monday 12/14. We completed our first page of notes on rational exponents.
Homework: Page 386- 388 10 - 46 every 3rd, 44, 45, 47 - 65 every 3rd, 78 - 86 even, 97, 102 - 108, 114 (stop at 65 tonight) Students used their knowledge and experience of working with complex numbers to be able to use the 4 basic operations (+, -, *, /) with radical binomials. We went over yesterday's homework and collected it. We also completed our notes, including 8 examples.

Then we went through 4 - 6 examples on multiplying radicals. 3rd hour also did an example on dividing radicals.
Homework: page 369 - 371 11 - 50 every 3rd, 58 - 62 even, 81 -88 Students worked on their test today. Students will get 10 minutes to complete their test tomorrow.
We went over and collected WS Test Prep 5.6 and book 5.9. Then we went over the entire study guide that students received this past Wednesday, 12/2.
The test on sections 5.4, 5.6, & 5.9 is Monday, 12/7. Students will be able to 1. use & apply synthetic division and long division (for polynomials) 2. determine if a binomial is a factor of a polynomial 3. find ALL zeros (real and complex) of a given polynomial 4. describe (in words) the transformations of a given equation from its parent function 5. write the new function given a series of transformations on a given parent function 6. write a polynomial in factored form and standard form given the zeros and its degree HW: Turn in your study guide on Monday and any missing work from 5.4 - 5.9. Test on Monday, 12/7. Students completed Quiz 5.6 (only 4 questions). After students turned in their quiz, they are used the rest of class to work on the study guide (5.4, 5.6, 5.9).
HW: study guide (5.4, 5.6, 5.9) & Mini-test is this Friday, 12/4. For the first 20 minutes, students worked in their groups from yesterday. Then we went over the whole 5.4 - 5.6 review packet. We did a quick review of the 3 basic transformations we studied in chapter 2 (2.6): translations, reflections, and vertical stretch/compression. We identified the transformations from a given equation and also from a given graph. Third hour we discussed how to write a quartic function with only 2 real zeros (each having a multiplicity of 1).
HW: Quiz 5.6 (only 4 questions: 2 using factoring, 2 using graphs & synthetic division) is tomorrow, 12/2. Please complete WS 5.6 Standardized Test Prep & WS 5.9 (only 1 - 5, 12 - 15, 19). |
