Students looked over their DMA 11 and we talked about common errors. We also went over the review guide 5.1 - 5.3. Students were also given an extra 6 problems for practice. The review guide will be collected Monday.

Students received their quiz 5.3 back and we went over all 6 questions together in class. Students were encouraged to make notes/corrections on the quiz 5.3. Then students completed the District Math Assessment (5 questions) on factoring.
HW: Complete the review packet 5.1 - 5.3. Test will be on Monday, 11/13. Students completed WS 5.2 Test Prep (on the back of the 5.2 notes). We checked this together. Then we went over questions from the book 5.3 assignment. This was collected. Then students completed their Quiz 5.3. Students also picked up a review packet for the 5.1 - 5.3 test.
HW: Complete the review packet by Friday, 11/10. Students in 6th hour completed the 5.3 notes. We reviewed the sum and difference of cubes. Then we went over questions on WS 5.3 1 - 13. Students had time in class to work on the front side of WS 5.3 and/or the book problems from 5.3.
HW: Complete WS 5.3 1 - 14 & book 5.3. Quiz 5.3 is tomorrow (in the last half of class). Student received back their Quiz 5.1 - 5.2 and we discussed the power properties for exponents. Then (2nd hour) completed the 5.3 notes. In our notes, we reviewed the grouping factoring method. We also looked at factoring quartics that fit a "quadratic" factoring method. Then we showed how we could find the zeros of the polynomial from the factored form.
Last, we did 5 examples on factoring sum or difference of cubes (6th hour will do this part tomorrow, due to the shortened class period). Use the links below for review or practice. We went over problems 23 - 25 on WS 5.2 & collected it with WS Math Jokes (cat riddle - from yesterday). We did a 10 question Kahoot game to review end behavior before our quiz. Then students completed their quiz. HW: Turn in any missing work and complete both sides of today's WS 5 -2 Made in the Shade. Students worked in pairs (or groups of 3) to complete the matching activity where they matching polynomial functions to their graphs. We checked this in class. Then students had their own opportunity to practice with the WS Math Jokes. Please make sure you have completed 1 - 19, 23, 24, 25 a & b on WS 5.2.
HW: Quiz 5.1 - 5.2 is tomorrow. Complete the Math Jokes worksheet that matches the polynomial to the graph. Students completed 1 - 12 on WS 5.2 Practice. We used Desmos to investigate the behavior of multiple zeros on its graph.
