Then students had time to work on their Quiz 2.5 (first part in their groups, second part individually). You will get up to 8 minutes tomorrow to complete the individual part if you need it.

We went over questions from WS 3.1 (set up and worked out #4, set up #5). This should be turned in by tomorrow, 10/17.

We went through how to determine if a point is a solution to a system of equations. We also showed how graphing can show us the solution (the intersection point of the two lines). We saw that if the lines are parallel there will be no solution. The third situation is where one line is a multiple of the other, so when graphed only 1 line is seen since the two equations give the same line. We also demonstrated how to find the intersection point using the TI-Nspire calculators.
Students had 15 minutes to work on WS 3.1 (started with #6). HW: WS 3.1 (both sides) Students had 40 minutes to complete 4 problems where they used the TI-Nspire calculators to write the linear regression and answer follow-up questions with the equation. Most students completed this in class.
HW: WS 2.5 Reteaching We did a review problem using the TI-Nspire calculators to enter data and then write the linear regression from it. We also showed how to get the correlation coeffecient and use the regression equation to make predictions. We also looked at how far we could extrapolate and still find reasonable answers. Students completed WS 2.5 from the prior day and added 3 additional book problems.
HW: WS 2.5 with page 95 Got it? #3, page 96 #12, page 97 #18 Today we used the TI-Nspire to create scatterplots, determine a positive or negative correlation, and have the calculator give us a line of best fit (a linear regression).
We examined our data from The Wave lab from last Friday and looked at a few other examples. HW: Complete the vocabular side of today's worksheet. Students completed their test of chapter 2. Students also turned in any missing work, The Wave Lab, Chapter Review (page 127), and the WS Chapter 2 Test.
HW: None Student were given back their Quiz 2.6 - 2.7 and we went over any questions. Students were given a "practice test" with 30 minutes of class time to complete it. This will be collected tomorrow with their book review (page127 1 - 26, 32 - 36).
HW: Turn in any missing work from chapter 2, complete the WS practice test, and be ready for the test on 2.1 - 2.7 (not 2.5) We used the class time to complete a math lab on The Wave. We examined the relationship between the length of time of the wave and how many students participated in the wave. We collected data and graphed it together on the graphing calculator. Then students were two write the equation of the line of best fit using 2 data points. They worked together to write their equation and then use it to answer follow up questions.
HW: Complete The Wave packet and your chapter review (page 127 1 - 26, 32 - 36). Test on Tuesday (2.1 - 2.7, not 2.5). The class was given the task of 12 equations and 12 graphs (lines and parabolas) that needed to be matched up. Students listened to suggestions and worked together to complete the task. Good job!
Students completed their quiz 2.6 - 2.7 (no calculators). HW: Complete the chapter review (page 127 1 - 26, 32 - 36) Today we examined how to make a prediction given a linear relationship and 2 points. We discussed if using a proportion due to a direct variation was an acceptable way to go about this problem. We came up with 3 different answers to the question. Our conclusion was that if we a given a linear relationship and 2 data points we need to write the equation of a line and use that line to obtain our prediction.
We also went over WS 2.7 from yesterday. We used the graphing calculator to check our equations that were written for the 3 graphs on the back (11 - 13). The workhseet will be turned in tomorrow so you can use it to study. HW: BE ready for Quiz 2.6 - 2.7 (tomorrow, 10/2) and chapter review (page 127 1 - 26, 32 - 36) is due Friday, October 3rd. Test will be next Tuesday, October 7th. |
