We went over questions from the review 3.1 - 3.3. We did a few additional review questions in class.
HW: Test on 3.1 - 3.3 is tomorrow and turn in any missing work from chapter 3. We went over the even answers book problems from 3.3. We did #56 together. Students had about 30 minutes to complete the Quiz 3.3. Students could use the last 10 - 15 minutes of class to start on their book review assignment.
HW: Complete book review page 187 1 - 7, 12 - 15 and page 188 - 190 1, 2, 4, 6 - 9, 11, 22 Students were given a 5 question review on 3.3 at the start of class. We went over the 5 questions and stressed the importance of details in our written explanation. Then students were given the task (in their groups) of graphing a triangle with 3 given conditions. Then they wrote its corresponding system of linear inequalities. Then the groups rotated and graphed the prior group's system and checked to see if the graphs were the same. Lastly, they drew a different triangle to meet the same given conditions and wrote its corresponding system of linear inequalities.
HW: Quiz 3.3 tomorrow. Complete the back of today's 5 warm-up problems. We started with a system as our warm-up problem and 88% of the class had the correct solution. We also went over Quiz 2.5 and questions from WS 3.3. We worked out #3, and set up for #7 and #10. This was collected today. Students had the last 10 minutes to complete WS 3.3 or start on the book 3.3 assignment.
HW: Book 3.3 page 153 - 154 20, 20, 31, 55 - 57, 59 - 64, 68 We went over questions from book 3.2. Then students completed their quiz 3.1 - 3.2 (25 minutes) and they had the rest of the time to complete WS 3.3.
HW: WS 3.3 Students started with a 5 question review of section 3.2. They worked with their groups on the review and then we went over their solutions, with groups writing their systems for the 2 word problems. Then we worked through the word problem on the back. We wrote what we knew from reading the problem, identified what we needed to find, wrote a system of inequalities and then created a graph of that system and identified possible solutions.
HW: Quiz 3.1 - 3.2 will be tomorrow. WS 3.3 write the system of inequalites on the 3 word problems and complete the problems on the WS Bagels or Donuts (front and back). We went over questions from yesterday's book assignment. We did #56 and #71 together. We also read the answers to the even problems. This was collect and students were given about 30 minutes the class time to complete a worksheet (Bagels or Donuts) in their group.
HW: WS Bagels or Donuts (both sides) Due to my attendance at a district meeting, students were given the class time to complete their book 3.2 assignment in class. Students needed to be able to decide which method they would emply with a given system. Also, students needed to be able to write their own system for a given situation.
HW: Book 3.2 We went over the two more techniques (substitution & elimination) for solving a system of equations. We completed about 3 - 4 examples of each method. We also practiced writing the systems from a given situation. We used the last 10 minutes to complete question 3 from the Quiz 2.5.
HW: None, if you completed and turned in WS 3.1. |
