HW: Complete the person puzzle worksheet from today and the additional 4.6 book problems (put on the back of yesterday's homework).
Students received their 4.4 - 4.5 Test back. Students wishing to reassess must first have all homework done listed in IC under Standard 14. Then meet with me to go over his or her test and then complete any additional work. The last day to reassess the 4.4 - 4.5 Test is Friday, October 13th.

We finished our 4.6 notes which gave us a technique for solving a quadratic that will always work. Factoring method only works some of the time. We saw that if the solutions were rational numbers (written as a fraction) then the equation could have been solved by factoring. We looked at various problem and found that if we could create a perfect square with the variable side we could use the square root property to solve the equation. We needed to have a 1x^2 and then get the proper c value by taking half of b and then squaring it.

We went over the review 4.4 - 4.5 (2nd hour got interrupted with the fire drill). Students received a final "quiz" today in class. Any late work from Standard 14 is due tomorrow.
Test 4.4 - 4.5 & using intercept form is tomorrow, 9/27. Solutions to the review & today's last "quiz" is posted - click on the Honors Algebra 3-4 Tab. Students received their quizzes back from yesterday on graphing using intercept form. We went over #3b together. Students had the rest of class to work on their review packets or any missing work.
HW: Complete the review packet 4.4 - 4.5 by Tuesday. Test will be Wednesday, 9/27. Happy Homecoming! We went over the 4.5 WS from Monday and students had time to complete 10 - 15 in class. I collected the 3 worksheets we completed this week. Then students completed the quiz on graphing using intercept form.
Students also received a review packet 4.4 - 4.5. This should be completed by Tuesday, 9/26. Test is next Wednesday, 9/27. HW: Turn in any missing worksheets. We went over the 8 graphing problems that students had last night for homework. Students worked in groups of 3 - 4 to complete the 12 matching questions (12 intercept form equations and 12 graphs) and completed 5 other graphs for review and then summarized their results on the last page. This packet should be completed.
Lastly, we looked at how we could use intercept form to write the equation of a parabola given its x-intercepts and a point on the graph. We used the three given points to determine the value of "a". We did #7 together from Monday's worksheet. Students are to complete 7 - 9. Complete today's packet: Graphing in Intercept Form and do 7 - 9 from Monday's Worksheet. Students completed a 24 question Kahoot game that reviewed factoring and solving quadratic equations using the zero product property. Then we went over questions 5 & 6 from yesterday's worksheet. Lastly, students were asked to create graphs of quadratics that were not in intercept form, but standard form. On the front side (1 - 6), students are to put the function in intercept form and then graph it. On the back side, students are to only graph the quadratics that they can put into intercept form.
HW: Complete the 12 graph worksheet from today. Quiz on Thursday, 9/21. Students received back their Quiz 4.4 - 4.5 and we discussed common errors. Then we looked at a third form form a quadratic: intercept (or factored) form. We completed our notes which contained 5 examples.
We saw how we could fairly easily create the graph from the factored form and easily found the x-intercepts. Then we found the axis of symmetry by averaging the x-intercepts. Then we used that value to determine the vertex. We used the "a" value to determine another 2 quick points on the graph. We were reminded that a y-intercept can be found by letting x = 0. Students completed a 4 question warm- up and we checked it in class. Then we went over 1 - 15 from WS 4.5. Lastly, students completed their quiz 4.4 - 4.5.
HW: Enjoy the weekend! Please turn in any missing work. |
