HW: Complete the Barbie Bungee packet tonight.
Students performed the Barbie Bungee experiment. They collected data on how for Barbie would fall given a certain number of rubberbands (attached to her feet). Students used the TI-Nspire to analyze this data and then use their regression equation to determine how many rubberbands necessary for Barbie to have a safe, yet thrilling drop from 400 cm.

Students used the TI-Nspire graphing calculators as we entered and examined data from 4 problems together. Students used the rest of class to complete 3 problems on their own,
The Wave Lab was collected today. HW: Complete the WS 2.5 from yesterday and today WS 2.5 Practice & Vocabulary Students completed a warm-up question on calculating slope and writing the equation of a line in slope-intercept form. Then we used the TI-Nspire calculators to make a scatterplot of our Wave data. We also used the calculator to generate regression equation. Students will use that equation to answer the rest of the Wave Lab questions. This is due tomorrow.
We also used the calculator to evaluate other data tables. HW: Answer the rest of the Wave Lab questions Students completed a 6 question review from section 2.3. We went over that in class. Students in 7th hour received their quizzes back. Then we gathered our own data to analyze in The Wave Lab. We used the TI-Nspire calculators to help us analyze the data.
HW: Complete WS Test Prep 2.4 (the back side of 2.3) Students used the class time to complete their Star Math Testing. After they were finished they had time to complete their quiz from yesterday.
During the first half of class students received slope-intercept form with a short video. Then they worked in groups of 3 to match a graph with its equation, identify its slope & y-intercept, match its table of values & its verbal description. Then students completed their quiz 2.3 - 2.4.
Tomorrow's class will be in computer lab D12C. HW: Complete book assignment 2.4 if you have not done so. Students solved a warm-up equation. 50% had it correct. We went through some common errors. Students had the rest of class to complete book assignment 2.4.
Students were given information on joining remind. Details are on the algebra 3-4 page. HW: Quiz 2.3 - 2.4 and Page 86 19 - 28 AND page 89 22 - 30. Students solved an equation to start class. 3rd hour had 16/30 correct and 7th had 17/28 correct. We went over the "favorite" incorrect solution and talked about common errors in working out the problem. Then we went over the homework from yesterday (book 2.3) and this was collected.
Lastly, we did a quick review of the 3 different forms of the equation of a line and how to write the equation of a line. We completed 6 problems together. HW: Complete book 2.4 assignment page 86 - 88 9, 10, 13 - 15, 32, - 34, 42 - 44, 48, 57, 58 Bring your books tomorrow as you will have some class time to work. Students received their algebra books today. Students were given a company's slogan and asked to identify the company. The slogans were picked because they serve as good slogans for learning mathematics. Students were asked to write their own slogan for the school year.
Then we completed the Knowledge Search worksheet and did a quick review of slope and slope-intercept form. HW: Complete book assignment 2.3 Page 78 - 80 14 - 18, 24 - 27, 30, 32, 44, 47 - 52, 56 - 58, 63 - 65 We came up with classroom rules for the year. We went over the puzzle worksheet from yesterday and found that using the strategy of looking at a simpler problem (a row that had all the same shape) was a good place to start. Then students were given 10 minutes to work on the Knowledge Search worksheet. This should be half way done. Students will have 10 minutes in class tomorrow to complete this.
Lastly, students were in groups of 3 and were given 20 pieces of spaghetti, 1 yard of string & 1 yard of tape and with the 18 minute time limits needs to construct the tallest freestanding structure that would hold a marshmallow peep at the top. View the link below for more information. http://www.marshmallowchallenge.com/Welcome.html HW: Complete the first half of the Knowledge Search Worksheet and complete the Puzzle Worksheet from Monday. |
