We went over questions, particularly the word problems, from WS 8.6. This was collected. Students received a practice test for chapter 8 and they are to complete 19  32 tonight. HW: 19  32 on Worksheet chapter 8 test. Test is Thursday. We went over the quiz 8.4  8.5 for most of the class. Students had the rest of the time to complete WS 8.6.
HW: Complete all of WS 8.6. Test will be this Thursday, 4/30. Students worked in pairs for about 30 minutes on their quiz 8.4  8.5. Then they had 15 minutes to work on WS 8.6 (front side only).
HW: Complete your TenMarks assignment by Monday, 4/27 and the front side of WS 8.6. We went over the last 5 questions and saw that we could use the graphing calculator to graph our equation from the cross products. We can graph the original, but sometimes it becomes messy with the asymptotes and different sections of the graph. Students had the last 20 minutes to work on their book 8.6 assignment.
HW: Page 546  548 8  35 every 3rd, 38  48 even 57  62 Quiz 8.4  8.5 is tomorrow, 4/24. We completed the 4 problems from yesterday and showed that if the fraction is simplified first, it can make our work easier and avoid potential errors. We went over questions from WS 8.5 and this was collected. Then students were given 10 equations using rational expressions and asked how they could solve them (focusing on the first 3). Many students used the cross product property to solve the proportion. We completed the first 5 problems in class. Students are to complete the last 5 for homework. Quiz 8.4  8.5 will be on Friday.
HW: Complete WS 8.6 (1  10). Quiz 8.4  8.5 will be on Friday. Students worked in groups to answer 5 questions on adding or subtracting rational expressions. Each group demonstrated a problem on the Smartboard. We also went over Quiz 8.1  8.3.
HW: Complete WS 8.5 and complete the new TenMarks assignment. We went over book assignment 8.4 and it was collected. Then we discussed how to find the least common multiple between 2 numbers and algebraic expressions. Then we used that information to be able to find a common denominator so we could add to rational expressions.
