We went over WS 5.4 Test Prep and #44, 40 & 31 from book 5.4 assignment. Students had at least 25 minutes to complete the quiz 5.3 - 5.4.

Students received their test back and we went over common errors. We also talked about the reassessment process for all or some of the test.
Students were given a 6 problem review of 5.3. We went over these questions in class. Students had the last 5 - 10 minutes of class to work on book 5.4 or WS 5.4 Test Prep. HW: Complete book 5.4 or WS 5.4 Test Prep by tomorrow, 11/11. Quiz 5.3 - 5.4 is tomorrow. We played a kahoot game that went over the Kuta WS from Monday. Then we looked at how we could use synthetic division to evaluate a polynomial function.

We reviewed 6 synthetic division problems together and we also did 3 long division problems together. Students had about 25 minutes in class to work together.
HW: Complete today's worksheet on long division and synthetic division. Bring your books on Wednesday, 11/9. Complete WS 5.3 Test Prep & reteaching by 11/9. Due to the Cubs winning the World Series and students being absent, we watched the parade and rally in class. Students had time to work on any missing work & WS 5.3 Test Prep/reteaching.
HW: Complete WS 5.3 Test Prep/reteaching. Students completed a review of factoring sum & difference of cubes. Then we looked at how to divide polynomials with long division (1 example) and much easier with synthetic division (did 5 problems together).
HW: Complete 1 -10 on WS Dividing Polynomials with Synthetic Division. Congratulations World Series Champions, the Chicago Cubs! Students were given the entire class period to complete these 2 items:
1) WS 5.3 (both sides) 2) Book 5.3 (problems listed on the 5-3 Guided Notes) Teacher talked with each table. HW: Hopefully you completed the work and can cheer on the Cubs! We went over the 12 factoring problems from yesterday. Once factored, we used the zero product property (ZPP) to identify the zeros of the polynomial. In some cases, we needed to complete the square or use the quadratic formula.
Students had about 20 minutes to complete the back side of WS 5.3 (use the graphing method). HW: Complete all of WS 5.3 & bring your book tomorrow. |
