HW: Complete at least the last page of the 8.4 packet. This packet will be collected tomorrow at the end of class. Quiz 8.1 - 8.3 is tomorrow.
We went over questions from WS 8.3, especially on making the graphs of rational functions. Then we did a review of simplifying rational expressions. We needed to factor first and then simplify by reducing the common factors.

We completed our vocabulary for section 8.3 focusing on different types of discontinuities. We also examined graphs that had vertical asymptotes or holes in the graph.

We also saw that connection with the domain and range of the function. We also used the calculator to examine some graphs of rational functions that looked like a linear; however, we found that the line was missing 1 point - or we said the graph had a hole in it. We called this a removable discontinuity.
HW: Complete WS 8.2 reteaching and the vocabulary match on the back side. Complete your TenMarks assignment if you have not yet done so. Students started by completing WS 8.1 test prep in class. We went over the 6 questions. Students also need to complete that back side for homework. Then we completed the TI-Nspire activity from 2 days ago. We looked at how the vertical asymptotes were created from our rational function. We also used the calculators to check our answers on WS 8.2 10 -12.
HW: Complete the Graphing Rational Functions packet (all of WS 8.2) and complete WS 8.1/8.2 test prep. Students completed the district post-assessment on chapter 7. This took most of class. When students were done they completed 1 - 9 on WS 8.2.
HW: complete 1 - 9 on WS 8.2. Today we did a review of the chapter 7 test and the district pre-assesment of exponential and logs.
HW: Complete the 2 TenMarks assignment to help review chapter 7 material. Your district post-assessment will be tomorrow and it is worth a quiz grade. We went over questions from the 8.1 packet from yesterday. This was collected. Then we used the TI-Nspire calculators to investigate the attributes of the reciprocal function. We will complete this activity tomorrow.
HW: Complete 1 - 6 on WS 8.2. Make your graphs accurately and please use graph paper. We did a quick review of direct variation (y = kx) and saw that this produced a common ratio of k = y/x. Inverse variations produce a common product, xy = k. We looked at examples of tables to identify the pattern as either direct variation, inverse variation or neither. We did many problems together (about 16) in class. Student had the last 20 minutes to work on WS 8.1.
Students also received their 7.6 quizzes back. This was a summative assessment and may be retaken if you scored 2 or lower. HW: WS 8.1 packet We went over the last 2 pages of WS 7.6 packet (from yesterday). Then students watched a video on logarithms (link is below) and also completed their Quiz 7.6. Both sets of worksheet on natural logarithms were collected today.

Then students received a 7.6 packet that they worked on together in groups for the last 20 minutes. Students were given answers to 1 - 14 in class to check their work.
