We used tabular data to compute approximations for the definite integral using LRAM, RRAM, and MRAM methods. Students were also given a verbal quiz on antiderivatives and the partner quiz 4.1 from Friday was returned. Students completed their Quiz 4.1 during the last part of class.

Students worked together with a partner on finding the general antiderivative and a specific antiderivative on the 4.1 partner quiz. The we checked through the RRAM and MRAM work from last night. We last review the LRAM and showed how to use the website : http://mathworld.wolfram.com/RiemannSum.html
to help us check our drawing and calculations. Lastly, we looked at a data table and used an LRAM to approximate the definite integral. We showed how we calculated the base and height of each rectangle. This data table did not have a set increment. HW: Complete the 3rd page of the approximating areas with rectangles packet. Learn how to use the integral feature on your graphing calculator. Book 4.1 should be done and Quiz 4.1 is on Monday, 2/13. Students completeda warm-up on finding a particular solution, given a derivative and a point. We played a Kahoot game to review antideriveratives. Then worked on rectangular approximation methods. We made calculated the width of the rectangle and then determined the height by using the point at the left, right, or middle of the interval.

Quiz 4.1 is tomorrow. We started of class by going over WS 4.1 Antiderivatives from yesterday. We checked the entire sheet together. Then we completed 2 examples on how to find a particular antiderivative (or a particular solution) given an initial condition. We had time for a 10 question review of antiderivatives with Kahoot.
Use the links for extra practice on finding particular solutions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miUvp2TCCd8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWEzhM3StmU HW: Book or webassign 4.1 and complete the back side of WS 4.1 Antiderivatives. Students completed the third part of the Test. Then we checked WS Antiderivatives Basics. Use this sheet as you work through WS 4.1 Antiderivatives.
HW: Complete WS 4.1 Antiderivatives and start book 4.1. We learned what an antiderivative is and how we can work backwards to find a general antiderivative if we are given a polynomial or basic trig functions. We completed most of our notes from 4.1. Then students completed their test from last Friday.

We will complete the 5.3 & 8.7 portion on Monday, 2/5.
HW: Turn in your homework from these sections. Details are in IC. Students were given back their quizzes (sections 3.9 & 5.3) and we went over any remaining questions from the 3.5 - 3.9 study guide. The test will cover sections 3.5 - 3.9 (not 3.8) and 5.3 & 8.7.
HW: Turn in homework tomorrow and be ready for our first test of the semester. Today we worked on more review of 3.9 (linearization) and a couple of problems from 5.3 (derivatives of inverses). Students were also able to complete their quiz from yesterday. Since we did not have time to go over the Review packet 3.5 - 3.9, our test will be on Friday.
HW: Complete the Review packet 3.5 - 3.9 and any missing work. Homework is to be turned in on Friday, February 3rd. |
